Nah, I bet they offer him low money, if he gets acquitted they have a great contract, and there’s language that gets them out of the contract if he gets convicted of any crimes.

I think they said it's a minimum. The GM said he met with 7 other teams and it seemed like it came down to the Seahawks and the Saints.
Odds are they are going to pay him and not get to use him. Goodell is going to place him on the exempt list.
So he won't get to practice with the team or play. Just team meetings basically and get his full pay. They are signing him in hopes he will one day get to play.

Where are you hearing that? Did you even read up on what happened? It's pretty bad. All that I read is the case is very strong against him. Pretty much everyone else involved is already in jail and going to testify against him and he was the one that orchestrated the whole thing. The only reason he isn't already in jail is because he's rich and the other people are broke.

I heard a little of Florio yesterday and he thinks Arnold's attorney essentially bamboozled Seattle overselling the merit of the defense.

I want to say that most of the prosecutions' actual evidence against Arnold is hearsay.

It's a one-year deal, $1.1 million. Probably an out if ends up going to prison.
As a Seahawk fan, I don't mind the move for the reasons you mentioned, and also because I believe Macdonald knows his locker room well enough to know it can handle this sort of thing.

On the Hard Knocks episode from last night the GM told a guy asking about why the Lions cut him and he basically said they had too and that they would have cut him too had he been on their team at the time. Said that it looks better being the team giving him the second chance.
Another guy asked the GM if what he did was all that bad and he goes "O yea, it was bad."
The GM is obviously a really good GM but he came off as slimy in that episode.
You cut him so you also get out of the contract and payments.
Anyone who signs him will do so with much less.
Nobody wants the cap and everything else for a guy who likely isn't' going to play and has had his overall value dimensihed.
But the same guy at a steal, well that's different.

How is it hearsay?
It was Arnold that had his stuff stolen, over $250,000 worth of items.
To believe Arnold is innocent, we have to believe his 6 friends all concocted this kidnapping plan on their own to get back the money of their friend out of the goodness of their own hearts completely independent of Arnold. The fact the group targeted the wrong person that had nothing to do with the robbery is what will get the whole group locked up.

Maybe they're hoping for a work-release program? Just let him have 1/2 the day off on Sunday 1/3 of the year
