Memorial takes the driver away and his advantage is gone.
It in no way is it a harbor town course

Big drivers of the golf ball traditionally thrive at memorial. Thick brutal rough makes driving distance more important, not less

Care to lookup downhill vs uphill putts at memorial?

His earnings are over $10 million in last 30 days. About $333k/day. Life must suck for him right.now.

Why did Rory skip the Memorial? I have seen nothing on his reason.

He’s about to play 3 weeks in a row and likely 4 out of the next 6 or so. Just didn’t really fit his schedule

Rory has always expressed his admiration for the Memorial Tournament - he’s often spoken highly of the course, the atmosphere, and the respect he has for what Jack Nicklaus has built over the years. That’s why it’s so surprising that he chose not to play in it this year. For someone who’s historically been vocal about how much he enjoys the event, his absence is definitely a surprise.
That said, Rory has also been clear in the past about his views on how the Memorial fits into the broader PGA Tour schedule. He’s mentioned before that he believes the Memorial deserves to be a standalone event, one that isn’t overshadowed by the proximity of a major championship. In his view, it’s prestigious enough to command full attention on its own, not just be seen as a warm-up for the U.S. Open.

He's the best T2G golfer on the PGA currently. Are you surprised? That's the reason Rory didn't show up. Memorial takes the driver away and his advantage is gone.
Big drives thrive at Memorial (and most places).
Rory skipped because he's playing the RBC and didn't want to play three straight weeks. Simple as that.
Stupid take is stupid.

7 top tens in a row is impressive.
I’m guessing Tiger may have done that at some point. What is the record?
ETA - I found answer that Byron Nelson had 65 in a row and 11 wins in a row. Competition is deeper now but 65 is ridiculous no matter who is playing.

Rorys biggest advantage, his distance, is taken away at Muirfield. That's factual

Byron Nelson was exempt from military service during World War II. I think that the 65 came during the period when most of the better golfers were in the military. The 11 wins came in 1945 at the end of World War II when I believe most of the better golfers were still in the service.

Tiger won 7 tournaments in a row from 2006-2007. Not sure what his longest top 10 streak is but during that run he finished T10 9 straight times
