Except he’s not Asian. Utah’s first pick is Tij Iginla, as in Calgary great Jarome Iginla’s son. His dad’s dad is Nigerian and his other three grandparents are white.

Go roll with that now. That name was obvious from the jump that was the direction they should go. No need to to frick around for a year with some silly name and uniforms that make a mockery of the organization.

Yeah I think everyone would prefer that.

Apparently they don't have enough time to design everything like Yeti logos before season the season starts. That will take another couple of months just to pick and finalize Yeti logos and then those would have to go for 3 new jerseys etc. Still lame though.

Will the outdoor brand Yeti have any ads or promos? It's Utah after all and the same name seems like a good opportunity.

They drug out the whole process longer than it needed to be in my view. None of the other teams that moved took this long to pick a name. It was obvious from the start most wanted Yeti or Mammoth. But it's not my team. Maybe I'll just turn the channel every time I see their shitty logo and uniforms on TV.

Going to be interesting what logo they use for the Yeti. Colorado has some throwbacks with a yeti foot. They still sell merch with it too.

He is not Asian, he's like a 1/4 black.

But if he were, I'm sure the large historic Japanese population in SLC (because of the internment camps) wouldn't care either way.

Colorado did indeed have that logo, which I always thought was clever. But they gave up that branding for the most part for the iconic Colorado C. I'd guess that the Yeti concept is more or less open now.

I actually liked Stingers, because of the connection to the beehive state and all. But I don't think CBJ was too willing to give that up, either, because of their initial foray into the bluejacket/yellow jacket concept. And their mascot is still called Stinger.
