Obviously it is, but he does kind of have a point. If these poor kids from Cuba and the Dominican are becoming great baseball players, maybe there's a better way to get your kid to be a good baseball player that is less expensive.

Well basketball, somebody has to build a court and put up a hoop.

Baseball in Domincan...any shite-hole sandlot...and anything to mimic a bat, ball and glove.

It's not like all youth baseball is played in green grassy fields in suburbia.

The only advantage basketball has is you don't need friends to get better.

even though the actual ball park itself wasn't anything special I grew up around, it did have a batting cage. The pitching machine was kind of a pain sometimes but you could practice almost any time you wanted (even if you were alone).

if there were other people that stopped by to use it sometimes we'd do a pickup game if we had enough to play or close enough.

Sorry, 87%

All such disputes this season involved cross-ethnicity confrontations.

Yet 90% of baseball fights are between a white guy and a foreign guy and the leagues traditionalists have been pushing back for years against any sort of change to a lot of baseballs dumb culture stalwarts.

Thank you for providing that.

Why do baseball "purists" feel the need to hold on to some many dumb and baseless traditions that don't reflect the times?

Football players never fight, bite fingers, stomp on, hit late, cheap shot, bend the rules, and various other things too right????

They literally broadcast free games on their website every single day. It's comical how bad you are at framing your points.

Honestly 9% of the MLB being black really isn't off the national average.

I explained in my previous post -- it's group specialization. They prioritize baseball over everything. Just like Asians prioritize spelling bees and black folks specialize in basketball.

Land also has an impact. Harder to find land for baseball fields in the city than in rural or island places (less development).

Then someone will say "what about football?" And I'll say..consider all these factors, and concepts such as confirmation bias and group think and in-group tendencies, and you'll get closer to why the numbers look as such.

Russello will just spew some weak and ignorant bar room banter and get praised by the "stick to sports" crowd.

Read a book.

Football is moving away from that slowly but surely.

It's no concidence that the leagues that have embrace diversity and modernism (NBA and MLS) are trending up in popularity and the leagues stuck doing old dumb traditional things for no good reason besides $$$ and their "stick to sports" base are trending down.

Revenue Has Been Increasing For 13 Years

MLB Revenues Approach 10 Billion

NBA at a Cool 5.9 Billion

NFL Viewership Down 8%

Baseball is dying, blah blah blah.

So you agree that it's by the choice of African Americans to choose sports other than baseball and this is what causes the discrepancy, not racism?

But you are hiding from the point.

His point is WHY is it ok to say baseball is too white, but not too say basketball is too black?

I know exactly why the sports are the way they are, racially. Most everyone does.

This is about why standards on speech exist to exacerbate racial division for no real ends other than to restrict observation.

I don't understand why it matters, personally. I feel no special need for black people to like me. . .so I therefore care little for how my honest observations are perceived.

I have found that black people are generally open and willing to engage on race, as long as I approach it in an academic manner.

It's the white liberals who spend tremendous amounts of time and effort stifling white participation in conversations about race
