And some people are probably going to attest part of this match to Furyk being a choke artist. It has been typical of him lately, but today he was solid through the 18th. Donaldson was really solid.

You wouldn't have said that 4 weeks ago when the teams had to be selected. As soon as the captain's picks were official, Horschel started playing great. Before that he was missing cuts left and right.

Yea, Kirk was the one who deserved the pick. He was super steady all year, and won the day before the Captain's picks. Horschel didn't do shite this year until the last 3 tournaments, so it's hard to blame Watson for not picking him since the picks happened before Horschel really got hot. But Kirk was a bad snub for Simpson and Mahan.

Well that is a whole different discussion. Why we make our selections so early compared to the Euros handcuffs the shite out of us

we've gotta have walker/fowler win and one of the last two matches halved. best case scenario we take two of the last 3

I know its alternate shot, but I cant for the life of me fathom how walker and fowler, or any of these guys for that matter, make a combined 5 on a relatively easy par 4.

If they did that is odd. There selections and cutoff is usually a few weeks after ours

ETA: Looked it up. Our core players are chosen 3 weeks before the Euros

This year, the Euros picked the day before us, so it was even from that stand point. I agree though, especially since the FedEx playoffs are going on immediately before the Cup, that we should wait until after the 3rd playoff event at least before making captain's picks. Horschel fit exactly what Watson said he was looking for.

I've said it for a while, I'd rather the young rookies than our "experienced" players. The US vets have experience at mostly losing. Get the new guys in there who are fiesty and ready to challenge the Euros instead of crumbling like the US Ryder Cuppers of the 2000s.

Euros core players though are chosen 3 full weeks after ours
