produce the list.
and i'm sure it's mostly to do with managers pitching around them and walking them "in the clutch"

if you want to judge a player individually it only makes sense to judge him on something that he can do individually.
I see your point, but you also can't discredit a good RBI number...its one of those "hes been there, proven he can can do that" number

he's a damn good hitter. I'm way too lazy to look up Kinsler's and Young's OBPs this year but I'm going to bet they're pretty high.
If you had him behind two lesser OBP guys, his RBIs would go down. It's that simple.

then it needs to be a HUGE sample size. Manny Ramirez fine. Josh Hamilton, not yet.

So you would be willing to plug in any guy with a similar OPS and expect to get the same RBI numbers?

Tony Gwynn hit .321 in the "clutch" he blows, that's like 20 points lower than his normal
Cal Ripken hits .247 in the "clutch" send him to AAA, bring up juan pierre
Barry Bonds hits .266 in the "Clutch" cut that mother fricker he cant produce "when it counts"

over a number of years in the same lineup, yes

anybody with the same BAwRISP and a similar OPS then yeah. He's hitting great this year. That doesn't mean anyone can fill in and do it.

juan pierre hit .266 in the clutch, we all know he sucks anyway

what would his OBP be in those 'clutch' situations. .800?
Posted on 7/13/08 at 7:38 pm to TigerPhan27
david eckstein hits .274 in the clutch but he won that WSMVP award so he's like way clutch and a sparkplug, he gets them going

produce the list.
with what criteria?
just glancing, out of the last 10 MVP winners from each league, 7 of the 10's RISP was greater than their career AVG, while 3 remained the same.

.532 with a .516 SLUG for a OPS of 1.048, but who gives a shite his average dropped. wave him

So you would be willing to plug Thames into his spot, who is only .007 beind in OPS?

well who could ever forget his career ws GSP (grit+sparkplug) of 13.34? That's the stuff legends are made of.

and who votes for the mvp?
and what stupid tired stats do they use?
we're getting somewhere now.
Hanley Ramriez had the best year last year, guess he wasn't good at BARISP or clutchiness

who's spot is he taking? and probably not, this is like the only good year thames has had it's only with under 200ab's hardly enough to judge a person

So you are quoting their AVG with 2 outs and RISP?
awesome. Nice reach.
the hardest position for any player to hit...
no one here ever endorsed that as the "clutch" stat.
Though I'd wonder what the league average is? care to look that up?
