Ok, serious question where would you rate him amongst current Shortstops?
Certainly not top 5

That fact that Jeter is starting the all star game 10 rbis, 10 runs, less HRs, etc than Michael Young tells me that he is overrated. The fans of NYY fans just add to his overratedness.
rmc, his OPS is like .748...'nuff said

Let's see...
Hanley Ramirez

Peralta
Who else are we missing?

can't put him on there. He's had one good season. Everyone else I can see arguments for though.

You said right now, and I could list 3 or 4 reasons but all we need is one in this thread...higher OPS

So despite the fact that Jeters career AVG is over 30 points higher OPS gives you the automatic that Peralta is better?

career
how does this enhance a right now discussion?

You said right now, not career numbers

I never said right now. I said "amongst current SS" but that didnt mean you couldnt take their career numbers. You guy's are misinterpreting what I asked.

3520, the 'Neyer/James Guide to Pitchers' is outstanding.
"Baseball Between the Numbers" shows Joe Carter as the poster child for RBI being an overrated stat.Carter had 1387 career RBI, BA of .259, OBP of .306 and Slugged .464.
But he always batted 3rd or 4th and had a huge number of chances to drive in runs.

Jeter is the most overrated player in baseball.
Posted on 7/14/08 at 12:51 am to lsuguy13
Ok you guys know it all. I have a tough time believing a guy who will be a 1st ballot hall of famer is the most overrated player in baseball.

According to this thread, when hitters get on base they're automatic RBIs, the luck lies with whoever is hitting behind them
No, the luck lies in how many times people are on base when they come up to bat.
The example was given with who hits in front of Pujols and who hits in front of Howard.

Don't ask us, ask the players.

Just because the players voted Jeter the most overrated player in baseball doesnt mean they know what the frick they are talking about
Posted on 7/14/08 at 3:04 am to SPEEDY
What would they know? They only play the fricking game for a living
