Ryne Sandberg had a 800 ops in 16 seasons
Ozzie Timmons batted like 400 times.
Ryne Sandberg>Ozzie Timmons as a hitter

McCarthy wouldnt have cared if Ozzie Timmons is up in the 9th with runners on or if it was Ryne Sandberg.
yes I would. Sandberg was a better hitter I'm guessing? has nothing to do with 'clutchiness'.
As for your earlier question, I played first and pitched in HS.

no but its random
SFP? is this you?
You're fighting him on semantics. It's random when between to similar hitters.
Not when it's a hall of famer vs. some random

Im not talking about stats, im talking about opinions. You claim your argument is always better because of this special research that you do.
you said I stole these clutch stats from nate silver. I said I referenced a book with the stats in them. That's not a opinion, its a stat.

Yet every time an argument comes up, your view is pretty underwhelming and filled with more sarcasm than facts or valid points
Lets ask the Major League baseball player who's made the better argument. Mine was pretty damn solid based on shite tons of reading about this shite. Your can be done by flipping through Topps baseball cards

then can form my own opinion, both by watching and by the numbers. I dont ripoff some no name guys research, whose opinion is no better than mine. Just because it is published doesnt mean it is the gospel
these "no names" actually use stats, you know the shite you can see. You are using moxy and the turn it on factor. Again who has the solid backing?

and you didnt feel different in a 1st inning AB compared to a late inning AB with more on the line?
Posted on 7/13/08 at 8:23 pm to Lester Earl
so what if he's clutch he won't shite on himself or something?

i knew this is where you were going with this, and I could feel the difference.
However it doesn't mean my stats changed (i don't know if they did)...and that over the course of 10 seasons of hitting, the numbers in those two situations would be very similar.

a lot of what you said is either A)stating the obvious(like good hitters drive in runs) or B)contradictory
everything ive said has made sense. Far from SFP. If I were wrong, i would admit it. trust me

so you are disagreeing with the obvious?

Posted on 7/13/08 at 8:27 pm to Lester Earl

So we can do away with slotted closers and just use whoever
Posted on 7/13/08 at 8:28 pm to Lester Earl
Now you're changing from batting with runners on to bottom of the 9th stuff. David Ortiz hit .306 from 2005-2007. In close and late situations? .308. No difference.
Posted on 7/13/08 at 8:28 pm to Lester Earl
maybe one day pick a book about stats. it may open your mind up to other things besides what the 1989 fleer set tought us. trust me you'll like the game more
