F that. This dude probably funneled weapons into both Afghan and Iraq that were used to hurt and kill US troops.

Griner has zero value in that deal.

A two bit pot smoker for an arms trafficker isn't an even swap. We should demand more. Griner isn't worth the potential lives lost when this guy resumes trafficking.

Vape pen for a arms merchant seems a bit steep.

frick that. They can keep Griner.

She fricked around in a shite hole country, and found out.

Brittany Griner is not a household name. She isn’t LeBron, Tiger, Tom Brady, etc.
They’re not swapping Bout for Griner. This is yet another example of Russia making absurd offers in negotiations.
I wouldn’t put it past this administration as horrifically stupid as it would be. They are making all time horrible policy moves on a weekly basis.

I agree. The Russians were smart on their timing with this. They know that is a laughably lopsided prisoner exchange, but because this administration (and half of the damn country, it seems like) is so hell bent on identity politics and victimhood, they might actually do it because they need the BLM types and alphabet people to support them.

No. The answer to this is easy. Laugh at the Russian offer and hang up the phone. That's what any politician who isn't braindead would do.

she can be a cautionary tale for Americans not to go to Russia

We don't negotiate with terrorists.

so they'd just let her rot in a Russian prison for nothing. don't think the public supports that, sorry
she's now done 82 days for something that is probably legal in every state now

American laws are completely irrelevant in this case.

Trading someone this useless for the world's most dangerous gun runner tells the Russians that all they need to do is detain black people and this administration will do whatever the Russians tell them to.

So in this trade, we give the Russians (in their eyes) a citizen back who produces for them and we get a basketball player who hates her home country?
Well, we have an administration that openly hates America so I'd give the odds on a deal better than Musk's purchase of Twitter at this point.
