I wish he would have retired sooner to go with OPs point…. His legacy is tied to a really subpar career after the Hawks….. even the greats fade out but considering 2% of HS players make a D1 roster, 0.5 % of the 2% go pro and .003% of the 0.5% actually win a Super Bowl…. He has had a memorable career. ( I know my numbers are wrong but still)

They had a good two year run. Won a superbowl bowl and made it to another but they weren’t some dynasty. And the same players that people want to give all the credit to are still there for several more years after 2014.
The point is in the several years before they left and in the several years after they left the team had essentially the same level of success.
No one is winning super bowls with just a good defense or just a good offense.

Lynch’s last full season for them was 2014. It’s a simple calculus, more Wilson equated to less winning. In the years where he attempted fewer than 500 passes they won at a 70% clip, won 3x as many playoff games, appeared in 2x as many playoff games, won a Super Bowl and an NFC title game. When he threw over 500 times they won 64% of their games, had a sub .500 playoff record and never made it past the divisional round.

It’s almost like it’s hard to compete for a Super Bowl when your OL falls to mediocre, your running game is a shell of itself, and your defense becomes average

Like Watson, he was very good before the cover 2 started limiting downfield passing. He could never make all the throws underneath and in the middle of the field to counter it. He got exposed eventually. Im not sure he’ll be good in the booth or not, always so phony, people see through that. He’ll have to find a way to be relaxed and true to succeed in this

Yeah he was nice throwing that moon ball to Tyler Lockett and company. When that went away, there wasn’t much left.

A HOF career for sure. Easily my favorite Seahawk of all time. I wish Pete wouldn't have turned the locker room against him for lacking "hood" credentials, causing his "Mr Unlimited" phase where he tried to be what he wasn't. Watching him was stressful (mostly because of Pete), but the highs were higher than they've ever been (until the past year), and for that...He will forever be 3 in my heart. Godspeed QB Carlton Banks.

I watched every game he ever played in for Seatlle. It was Pete. Once Marshawn left, Pete scripted the entire first half, usually low tempo, slow developing plays, mostly runs and short passes. After half time, the tempo would rise and the plays were much more downfield...because they were usually losing because of Pete's stubbornness. It was maddening watching them draft to spite him. He missed the playoffs in Seattle twice. Twice. 2017 they went 9-7 and missed out by losing to the Cardinals in the final game of the season, a Pete Carroll special. 2021, he got hurt, came back way too soon, and they went 7-10.
There was no fall off, everything else fell off and Russ held it together as best he could. They were a contender EVERY SINGLE YEAR he started for Seattle save for 2021 when the wheels fell off. He had a cavalcade of yes men for Pete at OC, and really suffered losing Tater Smith after 2018 (Tater was the Russ whisperer). He should be a first ballot HOF.
