IMO, the SEC becoming the first superconference by adding the pair is more likely

Nope. Any SEC expansion would go east.

Makes more sense. I wonder if hes really talking big ten membership or if they are talking about getting the group of 40 or so schools ready for the change that's coming

expansion wouldn’t necessarily be mutually exclusive

No way Ohio State and Michigan leave the Big Ten, I think it is more realistic that the Big Ten adds in the mid 2020s Notre Dame and UConn. Im not saying UConn would be even close to the best choice but the way the Big Ten went about the last go round, could also see them trying to poach Iowa State because of the whole AAU crap.

ya, youre clueless. would never happen. if ND is forced into a conference it is ACC. thats already contracted

And its very likely that conferences in major college football wont exist in 2025. So it's a moot point either way

most likely, the football conference structure will be entirely different, at the very least; and this discludes rutgers, lol

conferences will be for non-football sports

You just said football is a different animal yet if Notre Dame chooses or is forced into a conference it will not be the one with their historic rivals and the better academic conference, it will be the ACC? Who sounds like the low IQ individual please do go on about how Notre Dame would choose the ACC over the Big Ten this outta be good

Edit: I do agree conferences in their current structure as it relates to the Power 5 will be totally different so all could be a moot point

There's zero chance either would take the "junior" membership for 7 years like Nebraska did, so the B1G would have to pony up the big bucks from the jump.
Of course none of this matters because when the OTT services start buying up all the rights for airing conferences are going to go by the wayside.

well its no longer 1960 for starters. the acc is more of a ND profile (small, private schools)

secondly, like i said, it is already a contractual agreement

you can google that information if you want, plenty of links out there

The Big12 would die and become The American pt2.

But how would the Big10 function with 16 teams? That's far too big for a conference.

Nah, Big 12 would just cease to exist completely. PAC-12 and SEC would take whoever they want and then the scraps would be forced to join C-USA, AAC, or MWC

SEC could poach West Virginia and Kansas (for basketball and to re-establish Mizzou’s true rivalry game)

As an A&M fan I cant wait for all of this to go down. A&M and UT are obvious locks to at least having a seat at the table, but UT will have to deal with the children and watching the children throw everything at the wall towards UT will be incredibly entertaining

OU and Texas are essentially unopposed media conglomerates right now. moving to the B1G might marginally increase their revenue, but not enough to replace the exposure they’d lose to Ohio state and Michigan.

Not to mention what Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State lose?

Most years they have that Conference to themselves - in totality, not just talking about football presence in the sports and prestige.

Add in fricking Texas and Oklahoma?

"Hey, welcome to the Big10 Network - the Texas and Oklahoma Conference!"...now we join our programming of Texas and Oklahoma baseball and softball.

Shite, Ohio State doesn't want to share shite with Michigan and Penn State now.

They sure as hell don't want to sell their face of the league to Oklahoma and Texas...as the Big10 would promote the shite out of those two bluebloods to Texas TVs.

And as we all know, Texas just takes over shite when they move in, push old Big10 teams to the curb...bully their way at the pulpit in the Conference.

It's what Nebraska found out and why they wanted out of the Big12.

It’s gonnabe so weird when the SEC network shows a conference tilt between Missouri and Kansas, or Texas A&M and Oklahoma State.
