It was a terrible race but track athletes run about 15-20 of them in a season. Sometimes more.

One race, great or terrible, does not a career make.

This was one of the most hyped non Championship races I can remember and she shite the bed

She had 8 weeks to prepare. I'm not on the she's done train but it was an embarrassing performance.

ESPN/NBC/Nike must be pissed they were hyping her hard

I in fact do. He was roommates at Cal with a kid I swam with in h.s. Absolutely have blazed and pounded shots with him during that down time from swimming

Unfortunately, even at her absolute best she would still get smoked by Thompson-Herah.

But yea this is quite the overreaction thread title.

Even if it's an over reaction

Remember when she was telling everyone she was track and field and the 22/23 worlds and 24 Olympics were hers?

I mean it's just another athlete being overly confident. Hard to keep track of when it happens all the time.

As much as I belive the Jamaicans are juiced to the gills, most of their top female sprinters don't tend to have that "look" of PEDs. Elaine Thompson is pretty slender and slight, while Frazier-Pryce just looks like a compact bowling ball

You clearly can't rule out juicing for any country's sprinters, but with Jamaica there is a cultural element to it. Don't believe what most sources tell you regarding Jamaica's national sport being cricket. The national sport is running.

From one of the country's founders (Manley) promoting track at all costs, the mantra of "healthy body, healthy mind", the mountainous regions where kids sprint/race for fun, driven by very low income demographics just breeds track success.

The real story of this race was Jamaica sweeping 1, 2, and 3. They may be juicing, but Jamaica does not have Soviet or current US level doping technology and systems. Even if we assume equal juicing across everyone, they're still head and shoulders above the field.

It has to be frustrating for the athletes that Sha’Carri has taken so much media attention, as well as corporate attention.

Noah Lyles ran a 19.52 today. Athing Mu ran 1:55 and has been dominant all year and isn’t even 20.

The Jamaicans have swept the women’s 100 again and Elaine Thompson just ran a 10.54 (I don’t think either of the top two Jamaicans are remotely clean but I’m also very dubious of Sha’Carri because of her coach).

Dalilah Muhammad put down another great time.

Rai Benjamin and Michael Norman ran events outside of their comfort zone so they could be a part of the event.

Andre DeGrasse and Fred Kerley ran great 100s although the wind factor made them irrelevant historically.

Ryan Crouser is the best shot putter of all time.

Jakob Ingebrigsten ran an amazing mile and Faith Kipyogen dominated the women’s side

Hell, Francine Niyonsaba almost set the women’s 2 mile world record which opens its own can of worms.

Lots of interesting stories but Sha’Carri gets all of the attention

I was a big fan of hers last year, but I don't see how an objective person would not consider her post-race interview today embarrassing and her summer a self-inflicted disaster.

I think today's race was not indicative of her talent, and she will bounce back. When that happens, I'm sure will be screaming/cursing "I told you so's" at everybody as if she's redeemed herself from some great tragedy/accident.

Hopefully, she will mature. Until then, she can't tie the shoelaces of the lovely, classy, champions Shelly Ann FP and Elaine.

While I understand the sentiment and agree it doesn’t make her overly likable having people like Richardson in the sport do make it more fun

What's simply more amazing to me is that the USA, by far the greatest sprint nation in the hisory of modern international games that has a system in place where virtually every high school in the country participates as a feeder system, only has one real female sprinter of note in the premier 100m and 200m events.

The US hasn't even sniffed an individual Olympic gold medal in those events in years. That's stunning.

It’s a weird time where they have the greatest 400 hurdlers and 800 runners of all time (all of whom may actually be clean), but a real dearth of talent in the 100 and 200, besides Richardson who is coached by an absolute scumbag.

The men have less all-time greats but much more well-rounded.

He was so humble refusing to play for the Spurs till they traded him to a premier market because he felt it was a better marketing oppertunity

But yeah he’s not on social Media.

Weed is not a PED. But it is a sign of poor judgment.
