Birmingham just needs a new stadium!!
Turns out - Birmingham built a stadium that is too big
the only sell out since it opened was Auburn in the Birmingham Bowl. UAB isn’t good enough to draw more than a few thousand a game and as it stands its biggest draw for athletics is the HS football championships.

Eh, the stadium was needed. It has already surpassed projections and hosts significantly more events per year than the original projections when the project was proposed. It wasn't built just for football.
However, the city and state just don't give a rip about minor league pro football and I don't think ever will.

me and my son attend monster jam every spring and love it. It does feel like the stadium is a bit big though considering what all it's used for.

Did the Monster Jam with my son last year and he absolutely loved it. Will be back the next time they come in town and I'd recommend buying the club level tickets to give you an inside area to escape to when needed, was well worth it.

Birmingham doesn’t need a 47k seat stadium that they’ve only put 47k people in once since it opened.
Soccer, UAB football and the Birmingham Bowl don’t draw and that’s the majority of what it’s used for. I get they have concerts and other events but what’s the point when it’s still half empty?

Did Chris Brown sell out the other night? I know a big crowd was expected. I feel like a near capacity crowd happens 3-4 times a year between monster trucks and whatever concerta they land.

This is what the UFL’s co-owner said last week:

It has been sold out for multiple concerts. It is not just a sports venue, so trying to treat it as just that is silly. The Monster Jams are almost always near full capacity. Stadium is just fine size wise. UAB should just get better, but at no point was the stadium built solely for UAB.

I know tuesday was about at capacity. Haven't heard last night's numbers, but i'm going to assume it probably was too.

Yet if you search the stadium on TicketMaster - the only thing it’s hosting for the next six months is Birmingham Legion soccer and UAB football.
Not many relevant artists are going to Birmingham and if they do most will perform at the Coca Cola amphitheater.
However they’ll get the likes of Chris Brown or Usher who haven’t had big hits in at least ten years.
