Rex Ryan Savagely Rips Brandon Staley: He Should Go Back To Division III Where He Belongs

Rex Ryan, the former head coach of the Jets who now delivers big opinions on ESPN's Get up, said Monday morning that Staley belongs back in Division III college football, a reference to Staley's time coaching at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota in 2009.
"I think he should back in Division III football where he belongs. Look at his résumé, man. I mean, I'm sorry, dude comes in there one year coordinating a team that my wife could coach, alright, with Aaron Donald, all those guys. Stop it," Ryan barked.
"Trust me, she'd do a helluva lot better job than this guy's doing with this defense. They're the second highest payroll in the National Football League on defense, and they're the second worst. This team is atrocious."
Ryan said the Chargers made quarterback Jordan Love look like Aaron Rodgers, Brett Favre and Bart Starr. And then he criticized Staley's passionate response when he told a reporter who asked about the defense to stop asking the question.
"You know, I'm sorry, your job's to sit up there and answer questions. That man has a right, or woman, has a right to ask you any question she wants. You get paid to answer those things, alright? Handle it," Ryan said.
"The reason they're questioning you is because you're atrocious on defense. Give it to anybody else. Let somebody else coach because it ain't getting done."

I guess Rex didn't mention that his wife has a PHD in football from Harvard and is part of the Shula, Belichick, Saban, and Shanahan coaching trees
Nice try Rex

I mean, shall we look at the Jets rosters that Ryan coached?

He got them to the AFCCG twice. Staley's high water mark will be blowing a 27 pt 1st rd lead.

Made 2 straight AFC CGs with Mark Sanchez as his QB. Their defenses were great and were the reason they beat Peyton Manning and Tom Brady on those runs. Rex Ryan isn't some HOF coach but he's well qualified to discuss defensive coaching or lack thereof.

It is insanely hypocritical for Rex Ryan to criticize a dude for riding a great roster that got exposed when he no longer had that great roster

Hasn’t every winning coach everywhere had a great roster?

I honestly didn't know Staley was a defensive guy.

I thought Ryan's wife coached the kickers.

I like Rex he’s the NFLS Charles Barkley. A qualified member of the media that has the balls to hold someone accountable…. Good for him.

Staley should have listened

They were also a couple of literally doinked off the facemask bombs away from going to the Super Bowl too. People forget that but Sanchez had a great deep ball. In that first game he had two bombs literally hit his receivers in the facemask who were wide open 40 yards down the field. Everyone talks about the buttfumble but i wonder how different his career would have gone had those balls been caught.
