Poor RHS

They recruited hard and offered scholarships to said recruits. Recruits play, kids whose parents were funding the scholarships don't, kid quite, that family quits making contributions, funding for scholarships dries up, no more recruits, other kids have already quit, so the school has trouble fielding a team.
Only difference between UHigh and RHS is their was a lot more blue collar folk saving every penny to pay tuition at RHS.
It will eventually take its toll but I think, from the outside looking in, that folks at UHIGH enjoy having these big time recruits on their team but the resentment will kick in soon.

not hardly... PBS didn't have anything to do with the free fall at redemptorist.

Uhigh is a totally different animal from a catholic school. Uhigh Is basically a private school owned by LSU/the state and Southern. Lab is the same owned by Southern/the state

Agreed but I'm not alluding that Uhigh will have the same troubles Redemptorist is having but in terms of the football programs they will face the same issues in regards to recruits and parents of kids who pay full tuition as opposed to those who aren't paying anything.

He quit and left town.

Hasn't RHS had two coaches from other sports let go in the past year or so for having sex with students?

Absolutely ridiculous!

I don't think it will be a huge problem for U High in the future because the tuition is not that high and the people paying the relatively nominal tuition can easily afford it.
If Episcopal was giving $15,000/year scholarships to kids (I have no idea if they did this for Bridgewater or any of the other guys), I could see it being a problem though, especially with the types of parents you will find at Episcopal.
As for the Redemptorist situation, I don't think anyone can say too much about the guy who was fired. Seemed young and inexperienced, but he was dealt a really, really shitty hand in the game.
In addition to the growth of Central and Zachary, do you guys think the possibility that school will shut down is a big factor in their decline?

I'm just gonna go out on a limb and say that a kid that hails from the Scotlandville school district probably won't be able to afford that tuition.

Full tuition, sure. But I do wonder just how much was ever paid, especially considering who is brothers are/who is brothers are friends with.

Right. My high school did/does the same thing. They even incorporate this thing called "work study" by allowing the "scholarship" students to show up for a few hours each day during the summer and do manual labor around campus.

i see the diocese of BR merging RHS with the other diocese ran catholic school to keep the name alive somewhat.

Wow, I didn't know they gave that much money. They have the Trustee Scholarships and some need-based stuff, but I didn't realize it went up to full tuition. Was she a top athlete or outstanding student?

she was the only non-white top performing middle school student in our parish.
when the parish got rid of the gifted program when she was in 2nd grade, she started kicking arse..lol
i also knew 2 girls that went to EHS on a full scholly b/c they were AWESOME dancers...they went on to join southern univ's dancing dolls

I don't know how much longer that school can last. With folks in Zachary and Central happy with their public schools and with white flight nearing completion in Baker, there's no market for Redemptorist.
The school needs to either
1. Close or
2. Become the St. Aug of Baton Rouge
