He supposedly hid in a closet while Lawrence Phillips sexually assaulted a girl while they were at Nebraska.

I don't think it was a sexual assault, was it? I think it was a physical assault. Phillips' gf was cheating on him with Frost, and Lawrence went over to confront them

I think a lot of people are sleeping on the Hawkeyes this year.

If Spencer Petras is even mediocre, they win the west. That defense is going to be salty. Jack Campbell is a player.

They have Jake Peetz so the offense will likely be a flaming pile of shite. Incredible anyone would hire him after last year

No, he's fricked.

Maybe, but it's slim. He's been there long enough that he HAS to show some legitimate progress toward being successful. I think 8-4 is the only safe bet. 7-5 he's probably let go, and 6-6 he's fired with prejudice.

OU is going to destroy them

brent venables isn't the answer this year. Didn't they replace 1/2 their team with transfers? I think OU is about to lose to Nebraska and become the next Nebraska once they depart for the SEC.

Replace Petras with Mertz and you have UW.

Hell, if any team in the West gets good QB play they'll likely win it.

*UNL was better than their record last year, but they have underperformed every year Frost has been there so that's normal.

Funny. I Googled it after seeing it referenced in this thread and found an article stating that the Frost hiding in a closet incident led to the firing of Bob Devaney who was preparing for his 40th season as coach.

I'll keep my expectations at under 5.5 wins until they prove they can quite the stupid major penalties and have a qb that doesn't make bonehead decisions at the most inopportune times. The B1G would be better if Nebraska got back into the mix with Wisky/Iowa for the West, but until they quit tripping over their own feet - I keep it at under 5.5 wins and next season is given the Bowl or Fired decree from the admins.

Games they MUST win - NWestern, North Dakota, Georgia Southern, Indiana, Illinois, Rutgers, Perdue. If they are not 3-0 heading into the OU matchup then the season is yet another wash. Win those seven games against teams they're SUPPOSED TO BEAT and they can get themselves as a threat again to build into a 10 win team. They've got to quit losing to the bottom feeders.

James Franklin at Penn state is one game over 0.500 since coming from Vanderbilt

What are you talking about? James Franklin is 67-34 at Penn State and 42-28 in the Big 10. Is he overpaid? Yes. Did he also have a run of 3 NY6 bowls in four years? Yes. Then COVID happened and they dropped off the past two years. The extension looks questionable now, but he's a good recruiter and keeps them relevant.

Nebraska should be better this year, but their inability to win close games is impressive. Thompson should be more consistent at QB, and probably fits the new OC's system well. Martinez could break a few long runs here and there, but never became a consistent passer at Nebraska. They're an interesting team, but 7-5 seems about right.

Tale of two athletic directors:

Scott Woodward fires his head coach two years after winning the national title for going 11-11.

Sandy Barbour gives her head coach a $75 million extension after going 11-11 the past two seasons.
