It's the Falcons fault.

Weather delay didn't help. Shitty game with a ton of penalties didn't help either.

That span between nearly unending LeGoat/LeChoke threads and nearly unending NFL ratings threads is the worst season for sports. Glad NFL ratings thread season is here.

Not surprised it was down, but the game also started at 9 pm ET. Not ideal.

I actually forgot there was a game until around 9:30 central or so. I turned it on after that. Not hating the NFL or anything- I just don’t get excited for Thursday NFL games.

Yup weather delay caused me to tune out also.

I’m in a season of life where I have very little interest in a game with a 9PM kick on a week night.

Thursday games are almost always awful.

Keep it on Sunday and the one MNF game. Or put two bye weeks in the season at least.

So new orleans hates the falcons more than Atlanta likes them.

Those people saying that NFL "doesn't belong on Thursday night" need to be able to grasp that such a sentiment is clearly irrelevant on the opening Thursday night, and therefore irrelevant to this thread for a variety of reasons.

1. The argument against TNF is that players can't recover in 3.5 days and therefore the quality isn't good - not relevant to this conversation.

2. This is an apples to apples comparison of this year's opening TNF game to all other recent opening TNF games. Your critique is irrelevant.

3. We stand for our beautiful anthem or we shed 25% of viewers from NFL's heyday.

That has nothing to do with last night. It's the first game of the season. There was no lack of rest or preparation. I am more than fine with opening Thursday night because it feels like an event. I agree with you about the rest of the Thursdays, except for Thanksgiving.

Penalties are killing the watchability of the NFL. You seemingly can't even go one possession without a flag being thrown
