"Ah the old there's way too many games argument. You never see big baseball fans think this. The minute MLB starts catering to people who don't like baseball is when the MLB will die. Because those people aren't going to be baseball fans no what MLB does. The 162 game season is one of the best things about baseball. It's part of what seperates it from other sports. It's a marathon not a sprint."
Bingo!
I wonder if there is a correlation between people that think there are too many baseball games and the usage of "tl;dr".

NBA is really the worst. Routinely teams with a sub .500 record make the playoffs.
Evidence that someone doesn't watch the NBA; in the entire 65 year history of the NBA, there have been 67 teams with losing records in the playoffs- but 33 of those were in the first 22 years of the league having playoffs, when there was a lopsided teams-to-playoff position ratio.
That means in the past 43 years, there have been 34 teams to make the playoffs with a sub-.500 record; that's less than one a year-- and the longest stretch without a sub-500 team occured during that post-Jordan Golden Age everyone crows about, from 98 to 2003.

Best to worst:
NFL
MLB
NBA
CFB
Big drop off .....to
NHL
CBB
If it's not FSU or LSU playing, I cannot really watch a regular season CFB game and care. CBB is unwatchable to me beyond March Madness.

Nba reg season blows. Nba playoffs are great

European Soccer (no playoffs, every game counts)
CFB (no playoff now, smallest playoff in the future, smallest season)
NFL (almost every game matters)
CBB (non-conference basketball is mostly snooze-filled, conference play gets more exciting, builds up to March)
NBA (hardest play comes in big regular season games, has the risk of lazy play especially from bad teams)
MLB (162 games is a grind to get through unless you're a baseball junkie)

There shouldn't EVER be a sub .500 team in ANY playoff.

This is the exact problem. No team with a losing record should ever be sniffing a playoff birth.
In any sport where you have more than half of the teams playing in the playoffs, the raw math dictates that unless the bottom of the league is putrid, someone will make the playoffs with a record within a game or two of .500

Exactly that means the NBA lets to many in to the playoffs, thus making the NBA regular season a joke.

Of the leagues I watch:
EPL - Every game matters even those at the bottom of the totem pole because the worst get kicked out. Most teams are still playing for something towards the end of the season(Championships, Champions League/Europa League spots, survival).
CFB - Same as EPL but many teams have nothing to play for towards the end of the season.
NFL - Playoffs takes the luster out of the regular season a bit, but there is so few games that you can't afford to have a prolonged dip in form.
MLB - This would be lower if not for the fact that there are only 10 teams that make the playoffs to ensure no mediocre teams make the postseason.
CBB - The excitement of bubble teams trying to make it to The Dance towards the end of the season saves it from the bottom.
NBA/NHL - Too many games for the amount of playoff teams that they let in.

Baseball and basketball regular season games are only fun to re-watch if a player just had an exceptionally great game.
Football can be fun to rewatch if the teams played well.

How can college football be the best when you can win every game and have nothing to show for it?

I enjoy the NBA regular season. I hate the old "it's just a bunch of athletes running around and playing one on one" argument. Those plays are so structured. NBA sets are a thing of beauty.

NFL- has always been my favorite.
CFB- just about everyone where I live is obsessed.
NBA- don't really get interested until March
MLB- I like the beginning of the season in April/May.
CBB- love March Madness. I'll go to some South Alabama games here and there because that is where I went to school. I can't stand to listen to the radio boardcasts. Our games aren't televised either. So its go to the game or bust for me.
