I see that you meant a missed defensive holding. Apologies.

Yeah, that missed hold on Gamble came on a third down that would've ended the game. That was bad enough, but they also called an obviously completed pass for a first down incomplete.

I always get a kick out of people who still claim that the officials beat Miami. We beat Miami and ended their team despite the officials.

I think they were downvoting you and not your list.

If not for FSU pulling away in the 4th quarter that FSU-Virginia Tech game was a fantastic game. Mike Vick was an amazing college quarterback.

1. 2005-06
2. 2016-17
3. 2002-03
4. 2013-14
5. 2010-11

2017-18 was a great game but the fact that it featured a team that shouldn't have been in the playoff taints it for me.

Espn just did a top list and has all 3 recent Alabama games ahead of Ohio st/Miami (which is 7th overall).

I really can’t say I disagree.

Honestly last year's Bama/UGA was the best I've seen.

I think I'd put 1 or all of your 3-5 ahead of 2002 OSU vs Miami.

Are you disputing that the 2 Clemson games and the UGa game aren’t among the best title games we’ve ever seen?

Beginning to end, they were all better than Ohio st/Miami.

Yeah, the nostalgic factor may have come into play for my ranking of the Miami/OSU game. I was a freshman in high school and that was one of the first “big games” I remember closely watching.

Nah that game was awesome.

No. They're all top ten for sure.

You're boring and so are the recycled ESPN talking points that you're about to hit us with.

Those of us old enough to remember this game easily put it in the top two.

There's a HUGE GAP between "best I've ever seen" and "didn't enjoy it"
It was a really good game, but the Tua storyline makes it more than it really was.

I'm sorry last years game is #1 and it isn't even close. Everyone has all this nostalgia for Texas vs. USC but that game wasn't nearly as good.

Last year you have a true freshman that comes in for a 26-2 starter who lead then back to a thrilling overtime to perhaps the play at the end that will be showed over and over for decades. Heck I would put 1992 Alabama/Miami in the top 5 and most likely in the top 3 as that Bama team was given zero shot to win and they came in a dominated.

That is not pass interference, in that picture

1) The WR's back if facing the QB
2) The ball in not going to the WR but away from the WR

He had already missed the ball and was turning toward it.

Watch the play

In what way? That was compelling as hell. And to win in OT in walk off fashion after all that had transpired just to get to that point?

I mean, bruh....I haven't seen anything better than that in a college football championship game.

This. I mean, for crying out loud, you have Saban getting his arse handed to him by a former assistant (never happens) on the biggest stage, and he makes the crazy (for him) decision to pull the starter that dang near won him a title the year before? And for a true freshman? And that freshman not only doesn't shrink from the moment, he converts a 4th and goal, and comes back from taking a disastrous sack to throwing a game winning walk off TD to win the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP?!

I'm sorry, but that beats the Dutch. That's objectively better/more compelling theater than Texas/USC. That was a great game that basically turned on an ill-timed decision to go for it on 4th down by USC. I could see the "we're really making too much of the Tua storyline" if it was some freak single play or drive where he got hot or got lucky, but that's not what happened. Bama was DEAD, and a freshman became a hero for a coach who hardly ever puts freshmen in that position, especially on that stage.

Yes it is.

Sportswriters, analysts, former officials, and pretty much anyone who doesn't hate Ohio State has been able to admit it was the correct call.

quote:

The call was subsequently validated by the National Association of Sports Officials, and was also selected by Referee Magazine as one of the "Best 18 Calls of All Time."

"The Call" was also discussed on the ESPN Classic show, The Top 5 Reasons You Can't Blame..., in an episode titled, "The Top 5 Reasons You Can't Blame the Referees for Miami losing the 2003 Fiesta Bowl."

quote:

"The Call" has since been defended by the majority of sportswriters as a good one

quote:

Terry Porter was right. Six and a half months after the most controversial call of the Bowl Championship Series era, the Big 12 field judge has been vindicated.

This picture is pretty good. I'm almost certain the official looking right at the play is the same one who missed two holds and fricked up with the "incomplete" pass that would have ended the game in regulation.

No. It might be top five, but that's about it.

I'm sure it was thrilling for you and it's probably one of the greatest games you've ever seen. A lot of fans didn't care about it. Watching Georgia be Georgia and fall apart doesn't make it a great game, either.

Hell. No.

USC v Texas was two all-time great teams in an all-time great game.

Watching two flawed teams last year with a loss each is simply never going to have the same panache.
