Texas turned a seldom-seen 5-4 triple play in the top of the fourth inning against the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday night. Things got a little strange, but with the bases loaded, the Rangers retired all three runners, making it the first triple play in which the batter was not retired since June 3, 1912,

Rangers Triple Play against Angels.

Slightly off topic, but it appears that Profar has finally turned the corner and producing quite nicely (at least compared to his previous seasons).

Got him with a force out at second and still went to tag him

Touched third: runner on second is out. Tagged the runner on third: runner on third is out. Throw it to second/tag: runner on first is out. And they still could've thrown it to first to get the batter out since it looked like he stopped running.

So they could've actually gotten four outs.

Profar is playing well, yes.

Probably our 2nd best hitter right now behind Odor.

I seent it live. It happened and you could tell the whole stadium, including the players were a little confused. It look 5 or 10 seconds for everyone to realize it was a triple play.

It looked less impressive than it sounded. I’m surprised that it’s so rare.

Who could have seen that coming. We've got a nice young hitting core with Odor, Profar, and Mazara. If only we could finally develop some pitching. We probably won't be really competitive for another few years unless we start throwing money around.

Can we trade him for Stanton now?

Profar may be our third baseman of the future since it's looking more likely that Beltre will hang up the cleats after this season.

And JD needs to wait until Stanton starts being washed up, then he'll trade whatever he can scrape up out of the farm system.
