The system CBS uses to rank the programs is stupid.

Actually seeing how Louisville didn't even win the weakass AAC in football, I would say UL had a decent year not a good one.

Now UL-L had a good year

I don't understand why the sports were equally weighted. Football should not be weighted the same as women's water polo.

It's not. You misread it

What are the Pentathlam standings this year?

Never mind, here it is. ULL is no. 3 in the nation.

2014 Pentathlam Standings

You can guess who created this bogus metric by what they are called.

Did they rank good seasons or good programs?? Cajuns had a great year but that doesn't mean they have a great program compared to some of those schools.....

This goes on straight winning percentage of big 5 sports. What a terrible way to judge an athletic program.

The only BCS teams ULL played in football, they lost to. The only power conference teams ULL played in basketball, they lost to. Should we be rewarding teams for beating shitty competition and losing to good competition?

ULL received 75 points in football. You know what other schools received 75 points in football? Nebraska, Miami (FL), Arizona, Michigan, Georgia, and plenty other BCS schools that had a much tougher schedule than ULL. It would be difficult to score, but in no way should a non-BCS school be weighted the same as a school playing in a BCS conference.

Jesus this shite again about the budget

I've said it for over a decade...it's like watching a dog chase his own tail.

They complain about "the budget" without realizing THEY ARE THE BUDGET. The Cajun athletic department is forced to sell family packs in order to maintain any semblance of attendance respectability.

When will ULL stop receiving state tax dollars to prop up its athletic budget? If Lafayette wants big boy recognition they need to step up and fund their own program without us tax payers having to foot the bill.

Out of all the D-1 athletic programs, how many don't receive state subsidies?

Would I like to see us become completely self sufficient? Absolutely.

But to continue to make that as a jab at the program when Tiger Stadium was originally built with state dollars as well is ignorance. Hell, Alabama still receives state subsidies.

Now, I do blame our piece of shite former President (Authement) and Vice-President (Blanco) for not allowing USL/UL-Lafayette to start up an athletic booster when they were approached by business leaders several times in the 80's and 90's.

Dont get your panties in a wad cajun fan, I am really against all public schools using tax dollars for sports/entertainment, especially in the climate of devastating budget cuts.
Oh and tiger stadium was built as a dormitory that had a duel function as a football stadium way back in the Kingfish heyday. But when you are on the losing end of an argument first you attack the name of your opponent , then you go back 80 years to make a point while misrepresenting the fact that LSU has not taken tax dollars for sports in way over 10 years.

You do realize that Louisville is #3 on the list?
Finished in the top 15 in football, made the sweet 16 in basketball, Elite 8 in WBK, & College World Series. That's "a decent year", but beat Tulane in a bowl game, is having a better year
