Is men’s tennis really that much more popular than women’s? There have been periods when it hasn’t been.
Don’t let shitty ESPN in America alter your thinking with their showing of women’s tennis. The gate revenue for the menu crushes the women

Careful Rafael. This is the kind of talk that will get you #metoo’ed.

the stats back him up

Do men’s tennis players outdraw the women?
Television ratings for the French Open finals have yet to be published, but the men’s final at the Australian Open in January between Roger Federer and Marin Cilic drew almost 25 percent more viewers than the women’s final between Caroline Wozniacki and Simona Halep. Both aired on ESPN.
This has not always been the case at Grand Slam events, where the Williams sisters and other stars have often been the bigger draw in recent years. At the U.S. Open, for example, the women’s final drew more television viewers than the men every year from 2010-14, according to Sports Media Watch.
On average, though, the men’s ATP World Tour events have generated significantly larger audiences and more revenue than the women’s WTA Tour. According to statistics compiled by BBC, the ATP drew 973 million viewers in 2015 compared to the WTA’s 395 million, both excluding Grand Slam events.

“I applaud them for that, I honestly do. They fought for what they deserve and they got it. On the other hand I think that our men’s tennis world, ATP world, should fight for more because the stats are showing that we have much more spectators on the men’s tennis matches. I think that’s one of the reasons why maybe we should get awarded more. Women should fight for what they think they deserve and we should fight for what we think we deserve.”

mentioning that UTR
Exactly, I bring this up all the time when the topic of Serena vs very good male college players or journeyman pros come up. Hard to argue against UTR for those of us who have seen it in practice.
It is simple economics on the pay - the male events generate more revenue, thus the purse that is available to the players is greater. It is the simple eat what you kill principle. That is how it is in the line of work I am in. I take home what I generate less expenses just as my four female partners do.

The argument is actually even simpler when it comes to the womens tennis and soccer players arguing for more money
Nothing is barring them from making the mens national team or playing in the mens draw at wimbledon
If you want that money, go earn it.......

Rafa’s got a mean Blue Steel too.

I think it is especially funny to hear this in tennis since the top female players have generally been very level headed about how they could not compete against the men.
We have had exhibition matches on this subject and the women lose. Period.

Nah. It's a legitimate point he made and he backed it up with a question that the SJW's won't want to answer.
Also, he's not an American so he has to deal with the PC bullshite to a much lesser extent.

It's even crazier than that. Women play 3 set matches, and men play 5 set matches. It's moronic to pay someone the same amount when they do 40% less work.

I don't really think that is a valid argument, though. If the men played 3 sets while the women played 5, and the men still generated more revenue, the men should earn more. If employee A earns my company more money while working substantially less hours than employee B, I'm going to pay employee A more.

And even from a time on court perspective, at the slams at least, women play best of 3, men best of 5.
This.
I'd love to get paid the same as someone who worked more than I did, but I dont. The 5 sets to 3 argument is a very solid argument when arguing male vs female tennis players.
