Habs are real desperate. Traded for Ben Scrivens.

MONTREAL – Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin announced the acquisition of goaltender Ben Scrivens from the Edmonton Oilers on Monday in return for forward Zack Kassian. Scrivens, 29, displays a 2-6-1 record in 10 games thus far this season with the AHL’s Bakersfield Condors, along with a 3.47 goals against average and a .893 save percentage.

Ho hum, Caps win again. Holtby with a save of the year candidate.

Berger said this losing streak has built character
No it's built a hole and shown he has terrible player management skills.

It's also showed his fricking stubbornness to add a top 2 line scorer.
But by all means, Let's keep stockpiling Dmen and Goaltenders.

I get having D for playoffs but losing PA when you knew your PP and scoring was awful is grounds for termination.
I just don't understand what type of club he wants.

The Caps lead over the 2nd place Montreal Canadiens is the same as the Habs' lead over the Buffalo Sabres. The Caps are tied with the Stars for best goal differential in the NHL (despite having 10 less empty netters), Holtby is on a Vezina-like campaign, and the team is showing off scoring depth while the stars are being their awesome selves.
So, being Caps fans, we need to find something to complain about, and right quick. We don't trust good news. Luckily, we have it...
The Caps' possession numbers have been trending down, and now they have a score-adjusted Corsi of just 51.3%. OK, that's still 11th best in the NHL, but it's not elite, and that shows that the Caps are a paper tiger and come playoff time, will choke like normal.
It's really a function of the fact the Caps are already in cruise control. The Caps tend to get a lead and then go into shutdown mode, conserving energy for the next game. This is a thoroughly professional and workmanlike destruction of the East. When leading, they have a 44.8% Corsi (24th in the NHL), going into a shell and letting Holtby bail them out. When they go down, they come roaring back, boasting a 60.0% Corsi when trailing (4th in the NHL). That's a stark contrast, and really shows that this team is just killing time until the playoffs.
Hopefully, this complacency doesn't prove too hard to shake off.

The Blues are being outshot by the Predators 21-9 and have given up a short handed goal. They're lucky it's still 1-1.
ETA - and just as I type that, they score to go up 2-1.

Preds just don't have a Center they can turn to for goals. Tons of shots by design but they're missing that threat up the middle.
Look for Poile to trade for one of our high-profile defenders for a top notch center. It's really all this team is sorely missing.

Preds with 2 late goals from Weber and Wilson to force OT.

And the Preds lose again in OT. Seems like they lose every single freakin OT game.

Tough game to watch as a Preds fan. Not a single puck has bounced our way this year

High scoring night in the league. Boston and Chicago score 7 each, Islanders and Columbus scored 6, and Arizona and Los Angeles score 5.
