Pascal Dupuis officially retires from the NHL, amid more blood clots, and his family asking him to hang it up, so he did.
Great guy, great teammate.
Sid couldn't get through interview.

Ouch! Stars once up 4-0. It's now 5-5 with 6 minutes left

And Stars score a PP goal with 18 seconds left in 3rd. Sharp drilled it. 6-5...just your everyday Stars game.

Way more interesting than it shoulda been. Still, 2 more points.

Another four point game for Seguin.

being a fan of a resurrected franchise in 1st place shouldn't be this stressful

Three things:
1. I started a Pascal Dupuis thread. Thank God he retired, as I was really worried about the guy's health. It's good he tried to come back so he won't have any questions, but the NHL dodged a bullet because there was a real chance he was going to die on the ice. Your health comes first. Enjoy your millions, and the NHL should forgive the cap hit next season for the Pens. We should encourage players with severe health issues to retire, and remove the pressures to keep them playing.
2. The Stars are fun as hell. We all know how this movie ends, right? Let's not think about it and just enjoy as many 5 goal games as we can.
3. Nicklas Backstrom just played the 600th regular season game of his career. In those 600 games, he has notched 441 assists. Of players who have debuted in the last 25 years, only THREE have more assists in their first 600 games (Forsberg, Crosby, and Jagr).
This is where I point out Backstrom has never been to an All-Star game. Most underrated player ever?

A- The Stars can keep up this pace. I was hoping they would come out of their shells this season, but even I find it hard to believe Sharp and Oduya have had THIS big of an impact. I'm still expecting them to come back down to earth at some point.
And B- As Baloo aluded to, hard to say this team is built for playoff success. When that time of year rolls around and everything tightens up defensively, can the Stars still score at will? It's a skari thought thinking our goalies may have to win us a series. (See what I did there?)

The good news is, is that we've been one of the better scoring teams in the league since Seguin got here. I honestly believe that the last two years we were only one or two players away and I think Oduya has been a big help in that.
It also helps getting some damn fine help from another fifth rounder in Klingberg .

It's not the goalies, it's the defense. Ok, it's kind of the goalies, but they each have a save percentage around .910. That's right around league average (actually, it's below it, which is absurd, but that's a different rant). The problem is that they play high event hockey. The Stars take a ton of shots, but they give up a ton as well.
The Stars average 110.6 Corsi events/60, the highest number in the league. Yes, a lot of those shots are by the Stars, but they play end to end firewagon hockey, which means the other team gets their licks in too. Right now, the Stars are dominating possession, but if that starts t slip, I think they don't slow the pace, and those shots for turn into shots against.
I'm dreaming of a Ducks-Stars 1st round series. Please let this happen, hockey gods.

Is this where I mention CP31 and then some incoherent rant that makes no sense to anyone but me?
I have not followed hockey these last few weeks due to NCAAF taking precedence.

Man two years ago that was a hell of a series. Thought we were going to take it to game seven and then we choked it away in the final two minutes.

I'll never forget Getzlaf roughing up Roussel a bit, and Antoine turning around and punching him right in his broken jaw over and over again. I'd love for this to happen, and big Jamie O kill Corey perry. literally end him

Right now the Ducks aren't even in the running. The Stars are playing awesome right now. They are fun as frick to watch.
What's the difference in the team between this year and last?
This is going to be a fun season. Except for our resident Blue Jackets fans and Leafs fan.

Quality backup(if you can call it that) goaltending. Klingbergs Ascension as an offensive D man, and how quickly Oduya and Sharp fit in. Matty Janmark is pretty fricking electric for a guy who barely made the squad in training camp too
