This is bigger than Average Joe’s Gym beating the Globo Gym Purple Cobras.

Yuge.

Yep if you count the score of the game then it is the biggest upset in any sport. They did something that hasn’t ever happened it wasn’t close a game. They dominated the 2nd half and basically had a double digit for the majority of it. It really depends if it happens again in the future. If a 16 seed wins again it will hurt the legacy of it.

Stanford beating USC in 2007 in football was a more monumental, earth shaking upset. And the Cardinal was +41 vs the Trojans.

That was the equivalent of Towson State upsetting LSU in 2012.

Cajuns in Lafayette think it’s still not as big as big of an upset as LSU beating the winningest ULL team ever

We will see a 16 seed win again one day. What I would not expect to see is a beat down like this when it happens. Something like a 3-5 point win or last second shot is much more realistic. This was an outlier that may never be matched, truly remarkable achievement for UMBC.

Plus, there can only be one 1st to do it. They are in the history books forever

Stanford went 4-8 that year not exactly 41 odds. The odds were insane because Vegas loves USC.

And the QB broke his hand in the 1st quarter and continued to play and USC lost by 1 point on a pass in the final seconds.

Stanford was on the Harbaugh rebound...only lost to dominant Oregon by 20. No idea why USC was a 41 point favorite...that's 1995 Nebraska vs. Troy St. odds.

That's not a Pac vs. Pac team odds. That would be like making Moo State a 41 point underdog to Auburn.

Stanford football was pure shite, they were 1-3 coming off a 1-11 season going into that game
