UNC’s fanbase is more of a wine and cheese crowd, but their brand is huge. The SEC wouldn’t pass on them.

I like adding UNC. Kentucky/UNC becomes a fun basketball rivalry every year. They have their moments in baseball. It would help their recruiting in football.

Not a fan of Clemson. Too many tigers for one conference. Would rather a Florida State or Duke if we don’t reach for another state like Virginia.

Florida state seems like such a better cultural fit

Agreed but Clemson is a cultural fit as well.

If the SEC is going to swing for the fence then they need to target North Carolina and Notre Dame.

Clemson is an overall mediocre athletic program both historically and now, and would represent dilution to the conference. They have no business being offered a seat at the table on equal footing. Reduced share or not at all

How, they seat 90k or so and have two recent natties

After reading the actual article this is based on, this is a hilarious bit of content aggregation

Probably North Carolina, Clemson, FSU, and Virginia Tech.

Those four schools given UNCs recent investment in football would make the most sense.

I think it would be funny if the SEC didn't take FSU and Clemson. Publically stating they didn't want to add teams in states they are already in

Only for the texags melt

Clemson and FSU are SEC locks. They'll flirt with the big 10 but it makes too much sense geographically and rivalries for them to join the SEC

I'm gonna laugh at Aggies if Florida was able to block the Seminoles

Adam Smith of Inside Carolina is reporting that North Carolina is among a group of schools interested in leaving the ACC when the next round of realignment happens. The Tar Heels and Clemson are reportedly at the front of that pack, with the SEC being North Carolina’s preferred landing spot.

Sooo....the SEC hasn't made contact that we know of. All this says is that Carolina wants to leave the ACC and prefers the SEC but still has a big arse ACC buy out for years to come.

Thats not news. No shite they'd like to join the SEC. But it doesnt appear there's any movement on that.

this is probably just off-season nonsense and a podcast aggregator

that said, this isn't too different than how Texas/OU started.

How is a philosophical question. It is what it is

Since only football resonates with you, to be clear it’s fine for them to join the SEC as a football-only member. But the rest of Clemson athletics is crap and has no business in the conference

What is the end game on this expansion? At some point in the not so distant future, the SEC will absorb almost all relevant sports schools and make broader NCAA obsolete outside of a couple outlier football programs like ND, OSU, Oregon, etc.

Kinda crazy when you think about where this is headed…really will be NFL minor league at that point. Big big money.
