This has always been the issue with LIV Golfers. Can I play in the majors and be concerned with the world points it takes to qualify?

PGA fans seem to be fixated on LIV Golfers wanting to play a Farm Bureau someday when they are winning 5 million in their own LIV tourneys.

This a very interesting part of all of this to me. The PGA Tour needs those guys and PIF is going to insist they are allowed to play and I don't see it being a huge consequence for them to return, despite what Rory says.

Some speculation that they are allowed to accept sponsor exemptions up to 7 per year. That would probably just about give them a full year, with the majors, and LIV events included.

If that is the case, they don't have to apply to become tour members again, correct?

Looking like a seamless merger. LIV executive:

quote:

“Now we can finally get Hideki [Matsuyama] and Jon Rahm. I would say every big name on the PGA Tour will get an offer. Except Rory. Nobody wants that little bitch on their team,” the executive said to Shipnuck.

Rory:

quote:

The 34-year-old golfer spoke publicly about the merger for the first time Wednesday and said he felt like “a sacrificial lamb.”

“I still hate LIV,” McIlroy said after the merger was announced. “Like, I hate LIV. I hope it goes away, and I fully expect that it does.”

I don't see it getting political as far as anyone wanting to play the PGA again. It will be interesting what happens to elevated events and just how these 2 leagues will co-exist. If any LIV golfer wanted to play, I assume the DJs and Cam Smiths of LIV Golf, would mostly be interested in one of the elevated events. Like the Player's Championship.

I don’t think the big names from LIV will have any problem playing PGA tournaments or being reinstated to the tour. Several of them even have exemptions from their world ranking or recent finishes in the majors.

I think the unknowns are some of the rank and file LIV players that were ranked outside of the top 75, 100, or even lower on the PGA Tour when they jumped ship to LIV. Those guys are going to have to jump through a few hurdles before playing PGA events.

I assume PIF money will award a number of sponsor exemptions for many of those borderline LIV players to be able to play PGA events in order to quickly regain tour status.

Chamblee is all in on this being blocked.

If it’s not blocked by the player board, it will likely be blocked by the DOJ, and if not that regulatory committee, the senate … and then the regulatory review of the EU and equivalent bodies in Asia. This is a long way from being a done deal.

If this deal doesn't get done there is going to be a mass exodus out of the PGA Tour. After being lied to it will be an easy walk. The PGA players still believe they are being lied to about the real reason this merger took place.

Yep. I don't see the Players Board voting against it at this point and the rest is way out of my league but others refute what Chamblee says.

Well he'd have to resign on principle if the deal gets done, wouldn't he? He couldn't possibly continue to profit by professionally commenting on a league whose views are diametrically opposed to his. So I imagine he has a lot riding on this.

Brandel is cheering for the destruction of the PGA Tour at this point.

Exactly. What does he think will happen if it is blocked?

For the PGA tours general arrogance to get checked and Jay be put in his place? That's what happened. Though Jay's "place" is still quite wealthy, but firmly under the heel of those he supposedly hated. I dont think that is what Brandel is cheering for.

Not saying he isn't arrogant or not a prick, but once the Saudis PIF targets your organization, it is probably only a matter of time before they own a large chunk of it.

If he had made the changes Phil asked for LIV likely never happens

At this point, what is Brandel cheering for? He has made this a personal vendetta against Mickelson, Brooks and others. What good does he think he is serving when the major players are brokering a deal to end the chaos? Seems he is just promoting more.

bullshite. Phil's a greedy whore and was going to keep asking for more money regardless of how much the PGA paid him. And Phil didn't approach the Saudis. Greg Norman did. Phil is the equivalnet of Phillip Tattaglia and Greg Norman is Emilio Barzinni.

LIV was going to happen because Greg Norman is a vindictive twat.

So let’s say that Phil gets his wishes, and let’s be crazy here, the top guys on the pga earn 40 million or so a year. But remember, that’s the top finishers. And also 40 million is way too high but let’s just use that number.

What stops the Saudis still from offering 200 million GURANTEED for players? If the Saudi wanted golf, how do you stop it?

Let’s say your current employer met every single demand of yours, raised your salary, more vacation, etc etc. But then someone else comes along and offers 10, 20, or 30 times more. You staying? Hell nah

Can't believe people actually believe this. Go ole Phil looking out for everyone on the PGA tour.

Exactly. So then why is Phil the greedy person? He took what the market offered at the end of his career. It was a no brainer. And, like you say, "You staying? Hell nah"
