I don't think anyone was cheering on a strike. See the post above the one I am responding to that outlines what many feel.
The tour had not adjusted to modern times in regards to how players were compensated. Once these things were known, many believe the players were entitled to more compensation. Hell, if you are on tour, there is absolutely no reason that a player should not get compensated for playing in a tournament because they missed the cut. This is just one thing.
So, when it became known that Phil first tried to get the PGA Tour to make some changes and they refused, many thought that was wrong. And they thought it was wrong because if it was done to them they would have not liked it.
Then the trashing of players names began and many think that was bs. You don't want to make some changes and improve our conditions, ok, fine. BUt this other tour is going to do that. So I'm out.
I didn't watch a single LIV event in full. I have always enjoyed the PGA Tour.
But, the Tour made huge mistakes in not adjusting its policies and that opened the door for someone to come in.
Now they will have to deal with PIF.
So fundamentally, many support players rights to work where they want and think much of the criticism they got was BS, hypocritical crap. In the end, Monahan proved that to be true.

At this point everyone needs to take a step back. We don’t have enough details to speak in absolutes one way or another and the toxicity surrounding both sides is awful for the game.
I went from being happy it seems like these guys are going to play on one tour again to being completely exhausted of hearing about the PGA v LIV again.

I suspect Monahan will be gone by start of next season

Why do you think Player Unions form and CBAs exist?
When it comes to free agency or collective bargaining you can't seem to be able to get past your personal TV viewing habits.

When you already have almost 12 hours of golf coverage in a day, you aren’t looking for more.
Shift that goalpost. At first it was “it isn’t more golf”. Now it’s “you don’t need more golf”. That was easy.

I fully understand why the players have a union, and why they some times hold out
But, what concerns me, is the product on tv. What concerns them, is their pay. Logical we are both concerned about ourselves

My sons Saturday league is more golf. You want me to stream it so you can add some more golf to watch?

Moron. How many major winners in your sons Saturday league? What a clown post. Keep shifting those goal posts every time I blow up one of your “arguments”

You may be qualified for Rory's job.

So, how many random peoples pay concerns you? You concerned about me getting paid enough? Your neighbor? Anyone else? Or is it just pro golfers where their pay is a concern of yours and you care about
Never thought it was odd that what other people make being no concern of mine

If you get fired nobody would care. However in order for a league to be strong it requires players be properly compensated. If they aren’t properly compensated things like LIV happen. It isn’t a difficult concept. I’m not sure why you are having such a difficult time comprehending a simple issue. You continually post non-relevant shot like “do you care how much I make?” It’s bizarre.

A bunch of Saudi shills in this thread.

You don't seem to want to reply to my concerns about pro golf. I just addressed this with you and still got no reply.
Here's how it went:
"You can't seem to understand that I'm for free agency? LIV changed the PGA long before this merger and for the best economically. No one expected this merger but I've believed all along that Monahan was stealing from the players before LIV.
PGA players didn't even own their NIL. Golfers who could barely afford to travel to a PGA event still had to pay for their own lockers when they got there. This is a tale of Barry Gordie and Motown all over again. Just in sports.
To watch Jay Monahan get totally exposed by his own greed was exactly who I believed this varmint was. As I said earlier and I'll be happy to repeat it.
"Politics makes strange Bedfellow." Anyone that tries to make moral decisions based on political propaganda deserve what they get.
So you've been lied to by Monahan and he's now sleeping with the enemy. Why do you keep carrying Monahan's water? Which is amazing to me."

Because for 95% of golf fans this didn’t happen. All the LIV dudes are playing the majors. And that’s all the really matters.
Who really gives a flying shite about who won the Zurich classic?

Not saying he isn't arrogant or not a prick, but once the Saudis PIF targets your organization, it is probably only a matter of time before they own a large chunk of it.

And if anything else it gave the majors a little rivalry talk.
This is turning out similar to the NBA/ABA merger.
The NBA won but they essentially became an ABA clone.
Which is what people wanted.

This has always been the issue with LIV Golfers. Can I play in the majors and be concerned with the world points it takes to qualify?
PGA fans seem to be fixated on LIV Golfers wanting to play a Farm Bureau someday when they are winning 5 million in their own LIV tourneys.
