So let’s say that Phil gets his wishes, and let’s be crazy here, the top guys on the pga earn 40 million or so a year. But remember, that’s the top finishers. And also 40 million is way too high but let’s just use that number.

What stops the Saudis still from offering 200 million GURANTEED for players? If the Saudi wanted golf, how do you stop it?

Let’s say your current employer met every single demand of yours, raised your salary, more vacation, etc etc. But then someone else comes along and offers 10, 20, or 30 times more. You staying? Hell nah

This is what people fail to understand. Even if the PGA did everything Phil or any keyboard warrior said, they still would have fallen far short of what LIV could offer. Phil and some others just used it as justification for leaving the PGA and people ate it up.

And others act like they would have turned down the money and call them greedy. BS both ways.

Phil has for many years wanted the rights to his image gallery while on the tour. The tour owns all that stuff. That is why Phil originally had feuds with the tour.

Wanting the tour to give up their rights to the players while on course, and then also wanting more money from the tour is so conflicting

The most value the tour has and how they make money to pay the players is by having and owning those rights. That is their most precious commodity basically. That’s their entire bargaining chip with tv deals

I haven't seen many people if any at all blame the players for taking the money. I've seen people blame the players for not saying that is why they left and instead using other BS reasons for why they left.

Go back one page and you will see the first example. And there are thousands upon thousands saying that with Chamblee leading the charge.

Also, to be fair to Phil, he did raise these issues long before the Saudis were an option. So, yeah, Phil was fighting for the players (with a heaping helping of personal enrichment, no doubt).

in fairness you called it clickbait taken out of context. That's pretty intellectually dishonest but that's pretty much your sop

frick OFF.

Not much context that can change that sentiment.

You didn't know he said it and that's ok. Now you do.

That’s the only problem I have with Phil. He was only fighting for his interests. Nothing wrong with that, but the 100th ranked player in the world doesn’t have the same concerns or goals as one of the most popular and successful golfers of all time.

tons of context. Could be followed by a full fledge fight, or followed by a conversation where both sides hear each other out and leave on good terms.

And since I actually listened to a player in the meeting talk about the entire ordeal the night before the quote was even poster here, I had the context.

So I knew of the quote and context before the clickbait one line meme was even posted here. Got it now? Let me know if you need more help friend

Dude, you don’t remember all the threads back in October of 2021

“Man, you know what? I hope at next years Memorial and WM open guys like brooks and dj and stuff don’t play and instead play a 54 hole team tournament the week after instead”

Those threads were everywhere. People couldn’t wait for that change in golf. They were begging for it

There were almost as many threads saying this

“It’s bullshite how the caddies don’t have better food in their tents”.

It was all over this board man.

JUST IN: Jimmy Dunne has done an exclusive interview with @SI_Golf with some new details:

— Jay Monahan will be overseeing the PGA TOUR, LIV GOLF and DPWT

— It is up to Monahan to disband LIV if he is to choose. A full evaluation of LIV will be conducted at seasons end

— PIF wont actually contribute anything directly to TOUR players - PIF will get right of first refusal to be tours investment partner at any opportunity through the new company

— Penalties to return to the PGA TOUR could be ‘significant’
straight from the guy that brokered the deal.

Don’t shoot the messenger, but some posters are about to go off on me
