Harbaugh will say that the staffer/analyst just loves Big Ten football and wanted to visit all of the stadiums.

So the 3 years Michigan suddenly becomes a elite team is because they started taping sidelines

Maybe, but my point remains valid. These leagues and orgs cherry pick what rules to enforce and who they enforce them against.

When Saban was at LSU word was he was stealing signals.
If you ain`t cheating you ain`t trying.

Didn’t help him against UAB in 2000.

"After an internal investigation, UM has decided to suspend Coach Harbaugh for the 2024 game against Arkansas State. We will all learn from this."

Can't wait for the day when the SEC/B10 leave the NCAA.

What is "it"? Sending people to opponents games and videotaping the sidelines? I would imagine not many teams are doing both of those things together

What equipment were they using to steal information?

I get that it's a rule that was broken, but what is the competitive advantage gained?

what specifically was this dude doing?

Take a full game-long recording of both sidelines and then get the all 22 recording on that game. Put the video of one team sideline on one screen and the all 22 on the other. Every D or O alignment look at the placards or signs sent in to determine who the real signs are coming from and the decoy set but looking for repetitions in the signs.

Once you have "decoded" the signs then watch the next set of film against that team to confirm their signs and you have successfully broken their calls. By doing two teams at once, you have something to confirm it with to make sure as well.

When it comes to gameday, you set whoever is the sign steal guy with a view of the opposing signal caller and then decipher calls in real time. On D you set up in a base and then look to the sideline to adjust. On O you can call then audible from the sideline.

All it really would take is once you break the code to set up a call sheet of what calls are blitzes and where they are coming from and be set to audible. On D it is even easier just by being able to prepare for run vs pass, especially on short yardage and down specific criteria.

There is a hell of a difference between tracking patterns and tendencies in a game vs decrypting the incoming signals beforehand.

I would be shocked not see a bunch of QBs go back to the big wristband call sheets and change those numbers each game or even each quarter.

Part of the problem is that this dude makes $55k per year. The cost of travel and tickets to some 30 games over the last 3 years exceeds this guys income. So who paid for it?

I agree it all seems kinda silly but I can’t deny that I’m loving every minute of it.

Not only that, but the seats were between the 45's and close enough to be raised to guarantee they can see the sign callers but close enough to be able to make sure they can make out the signs coming in. Those arent cheap tickets. How much would those tickets cost from Saturdays PSU/OSU game?

Who is paying for those tickets? Who is reimbursing him and if it was an alumni or booster, well....

Question is whether UM tells the NCAA to frick off. The Big Ten would be a different matter.

You think the other member schools were hurt by these actions are going to put their neck on the line for their offender? Nope

Have confirmed with one Big Ten school that Michigan staffer Connor Stalions bought tickets to a game at their stadium two weeks before that team played Michigan last season.

My point is that the NCAA may not be able to do shite against Michigan but the Big Ten certainly can.

What, you can't go to games anymore?

Pretty sure Target employees can check out the Merch at Walmart.

Are they doing this with cell phones? Are they recording the entire game with full blown video cameras while sitting in the stands?

I'm just trying to understand the mechanism.
