If you really believe Saban was better than Carroll you are stupid. Saban was a joke.

In the NFL

Carroll is a shady weasel just like Saban. When things get bad he'll leave you crippled.

This and Carroll is in the NFC Worst with Saban being in the AFC East 5 years ago.

Huh? The NFC west is arguably the best division this year.

ya, because that has to do with how good of a coach he is.

No I just think its funny how only 9 years later how the tides have turned (pun intended).

Imagine an LSU fan saying that Carroll is better than saban before saban came back to college football. It's like this guy is just reaching for something to say to dog saban. Good effort but no.

You're 100% right. It's a crime that USC got robbed of a BCS National Championship in 2003. They were clearly the best team in the country that year.

Like him or not Carroll is a hell of a football coach.

I agree with this. BUT Saban has him destroyed as far as college goes. He is on the verge of his 4th NC within a ten year period. In these times thats amazing.

It is, but it also highlights why using National Championships as a measure of greatness is flawed in college football. There are so many variables outside of the coaches control to go into "winning" the NC in college. For example, Saban is going for his 4th, but only has 1 undefeated season. That means he needed a lot of breaks to go his way. Of course he had to have his team in position to take advantage of those breaks, but he still needed outside help. Saban got to a BCS CG without even winning his own division. Carroll had the #1 ranked team in both polls and got left out.

I'd give a slight edge to Saban, but they are pretty evenly matched. Both are great recruiters and both did well in big games and were consistent winners.

Saban great recruiter.... so coach. The nfl will expose you if your not a great x's and o's guy. Without the best talent in college football Saban wouldnt be shite. Great coaches to me are the ones who have to do the most with less. What happened in Sabans first season at Bama without 5 star players everywhere......6-6. Most overrated coach ever.

Please provide an example of a great coach by your standard. And I'll preempt any discussion Chris Peterson or Gary Patterson, who may not have as much talent as say Alabama, LSU or USC, but do clearly have way more talent than the teams in their conferences. No coach has won without great players.
