"I think if it weren't for those punches, I wouldn't be in that situation," Pereira said in Portuguese. "When the jab landed, I fell and grabbed his legs. Throwing elbows and punches, the guy was desperate. He landed a punch that he couldn't even believe, and then he wanted to end the fight no matter what. The ref was there watching ... The guy sees it's an illegal hit, but he's there thinking, 'Bro, how can I stop this fight?'

"Man, it's the regulations. It's in the rulebook. You're wrong if you don't stop [the illegal strikes]. That's in the rules. What makes me more upset is that I warned him beforehand. But the guy doesn't have the guts. He's not a real man."

Not only did JJ dismantle Gain, but in comparison he made him look small. But $$$ will make you do stupid things, one of these idiocies is Alex Pereira ever fighting again as a heavyweight.

Even if you’re right, what does that have to do with Poatan accusing Gane of illegal shots in a match that happened two days ago?

Pretty clear explanation by Dean. Those were legal blows. Sour grapes by Alex.

Alex was getting stomped without those blows anyway. He looked lost against Gane tbh

There were a couple illegal blows but Alex was already knocked silly. Rarely will those be called in that situation.

Alex folded like a cheap lawn chair from a jab. Some of the blows were illegal according to Herb's video, but I don't think Alex had a chance, even if he was able to recover. Gane looked way better than Alex.

He probably should have had a tune up fight first.

Everyone's capable of making a mistake, but Herb Dean is probably the last ref I'm going to aggressively call out the integrity of.

Poatan needed a few fights at heavyweight before going up against the top contender. It's insane that he fought at 185 and now fighting at heavyweight. I think he could have dominated light heavyweight for a long time. But its nice to see him accept the challenge of moving up in weight again.
