Sounds like they'll fit right in with the Big 12, which I hear is going to be inviting them any minute now.

Louisiana College in Pineville, LA is D-III and they are drawing an average of 5,000 to home games this season. Hell, they're even in the top 25 in D-III this year.

Tulane needs to get out of its contract with the Superdome and move its games to Tad Gormley Stadium. It would be a good deal for Tulane, good for New Orleans, and good for the Tulane fans as they would actually be able to enjoy having an outdoor game day experience once again.

I dont know if this is still true but I heard 20 years ago that a football team is especially important to Tulane for donations b/c so many grads have no local ties to the city and dont stay in the area after graduation. Therefore the sports teams are all the alumni ever hear about.

I don't think the CUSA would allow this. Something about inadequate facilities for visiting teams. Not to mention TGS blows.

It is also the reason for their demise

No local support or attendance to speak of....since virtually all of their student body leaves...or tries to leave...upon graduation

What is even MORE pathetic is that some of that 973 appears to be UTEP fans dressed in orange...

What's even more pathetic is that the athletic department has outsourced it's ticket selling to another company, one that "proactively" calls upon alums, groups, faculty/staff etc to purchase tickets to sporting events. Sad.

Yep

LINK

"2011-12 signals the start of a new era for Tulane Athletics and it's the right time to enhance our outreach and customer service efforts both within the local community and with our supporters across the region and country," said Rick Dickson, Director of Athletics. "Partnering with Aspire will allow us to capitalize on this momentum by building relationships with more Green Wave fans than we would have been able to on our own.
