champ prolly gets a bump in pay and a bigger "out" clause if they don't hire him when mack leaves

he likely didn't even have to threaten anything

The only realistic jobs I see Muschamp leaving Texas for are LSU, Georgia and Oklahoma.

Do you think he would/has asked for a definitive time table? I mean he's gonna be passing up some great jobs till then.

I'm hearing that UT is flying agents to Lafayette to interview Rickey Bustle tonight.

if he's really holding a presser, he's gone, why hold one to keep to say nothing is changing?

you could, but almost everytime this situation comes up, and someone holds a pc, its to say goodbye, but i'm not even sure if this story is true

Miles did it, so I think Muschamp is staying put.

Tennessee is on that level. UT has won a title more recently than Georgia. It's not Kentucky we're talking about. UT is a big time program. It's certainly possible.

And if I'm Muschamp, I'm thinking Mack might not retire for another five years. It might make sense to take a big time job. It's a great situation, honestly. You'd get a definite grace period.

He did it because he had to refute the reports that he had already taken the UM job. This isn't exactly the same thing but he could very well announce he is staying so all recruits see it for themselves so there is no confusion. I can see that but I can see him taking the job as well. Pretty high profile job in the sec.

Maybe. But if I’m Muschamp’s agent and he’s really been offered the Vols job, I am telling him to strongly consider it. The Texas job is better, but there’s no telling how long you have to wait for it. A head job now might be more valuable than Texas’ job in the future. And it’s not like he’s being offered by Podunk State. This is Tennessee. It’s one of the top 10-15 programs in the nation.

RIGHT NOW, i see UTenn as a no-win job

they will love whomever is hired at first, but UTenn is at such a recruiting disadvantage right now

For one season. Whatever. That is horribly short-sighted. Long term, it's a pretty fertile recruiting area with a fanatical fanbase. It's a very attractive job.

Which, obviously, Muschamp isn't taking.
