He won the NIT last year and is recruiting good. He needs 2-3 more wins a year and make the tournament consistently. That's not the definition being "in the shitter." He needs to get "over the hump."

The Memphis basketball program has been a disaster this year, both on and off the court. It is a reasonable question to ask after a 3rd straight AAC loss for the preseason #12 team that brought in the #1 recruiting class. Barring them winning the AAC conference tournament, they will miss the NCAA tournament for the 4th straight year in the 4 seasons Penny has been the coach. The guy can clearly recruit, but has done nothing to indicate he can successfully coach and operate a major college basketball program.

Glad he was honest and tore into that reporter. You know what the team is dealing with and you ask a jackass question so he treated the reporter like he was a jackass.

He had the #1 recruiting class in 2019 and 2021. In NCAA basketball, missing the tournament is not acceptable with those classes. Kids don't stick around for 4 years anymore

It has been eight years since Memphis has been in the NCAA tournament. The program has been in the shitter

They forced a guy out who was in the tourney 4 or 5 times. Still waiting for Penny, and he’s had multiple years. If you want to be a professional, act like one.
