And it's not the NCAA's job to take care of private businesses. Anything that comes about, is on the head of Penn St and those that ran it. They're the bad guys, not the NCAA.
And yet the NCAA has their finger on the self-destruct button and are ready to push it. The people who were responsible for this atrocity are in the process of being punished to the full extent of the law. Penn State is doing EVERYTHING they can to rectify what happened. By all but killing the program, you are hurting more than just Penn State University. You are bankrupting an entire city and hurting the businesses and livelihoods of half of the state of Pennsylvania. And all of this to satisfy your thirst for vengeance and retribution.

The people actually responsible for this are being dealt with in the court of law.

They're going to. It's not the NCAA's fault Penn St let actions happen that will inadvertantly affect businesses and other people. The NCAA is going after Penn St. Anything that filters down, is on PS, not the NCAA.

Yes, because profit margins are what is important here.
Maybe not, but the bigger picture is. What has been done is done. Why are people screaming for more blood? Because many lives of young and innocent children were altered. NOTHING can change that and NOTHING can 'make it better'. So why screw with the lives of tens of thousands of others? Should we bring more people down so a couple of people with ZERO skins in the game will feel good?
Shutting down the football program or the AD will do DICK for 99% of the country other than give them a warm fuzzy feeling for a few hours. It will have zero impact on your life and the lives of many others on here.
For those who are cleaning the stadium after games, selling souvenirs at a local mom & pop store down the street, selling concessions to raise a couple bucks for the local Y...it'll frick them up.
But hey, as long as you get the warm fuzzies it's all for the better right?

But by punishing the guilty (who are already being punished) you are punishing the innocent at the same time and are insuring the fate of tens of thousands of people across the state of Pennsylvania, many of whom have never even set foot on campus.

Exactly how are they doing that?

Why does the NCAA even need to get involved? The guilty are being dealt with already in the court of law.
If PSU wants to cancel the season, go ahead, that's their call. Otherwise this is a criminal and legal issue and the NCAA SHOULD have no involvement. Much less be handing out redundant punishments - a financial penalty is what they are basically levying which is no different than what PSU will be forced to pay in restitution - and indirectly punishing innocent people.

Again, the NCAA isn't going after the businesses. They should go after PS for lost damages since it was PS's actions that led to the results.

Dude they are gone because they helped keep a child rapist raping little boys. In no scenario could they possibly still be there.
You are saying the NCAA should stay away because the crime was SO BAD that the guilty party is gone? So if the crime wasn't as bad and a few guilty people were still around the NCAA could pass out sanctions?
That's what you are saying.

National Collegiate Athletics Association. What power do they have over the entire university?
None. They aren't going to punish the biology department. They'll punish the Athletic Department based on what they deem to be NCAA violations.

You seem to think that TigerDroppings will decide the fate of PSU. All we're doing is commenting on published reports. You might want to read some of them.

Well show me how they're punishing the guilty and I may change my opinion.

You're correct. You're correct because what they were doing in their football program was bad enough to get life in prison charges.

Did you not say they are in danger of losing accreditation? Would that not punish those 100,000+ people?

I've only read the first 3 pages but I am amazed people are still defending this university. IMO this is just the tip of the iceberg. I definitely believe there was more than 1 rapists being covered up.
