Could it be possible they are kicked out of the NCAA for a period of time? That would remove them from playing anyone.

The same thing was posted on Rivals, although they also said Penn State has to forfeit all Big Ten revenue and donate it to anti-bully charities. They also cannot play any "big" non-conference opponents for a number of years. I'll believe all that when I see it.
Also, psu being kept in the dark until Monday. They will find out the penalties when everyone else does.

When you know someone in your office is raping kids in your building and you don't get them fired and arrested and you allow them to keep working there you are hiding a child rapist in your office.

Who currently in the football program hid a child rapist? Any names of these people?
Janitors A & B. I've also heard speculation of a possible janitor C. It could be worse though. We may be looking at a Janitor AC or AD before all is said and done.

Something similar happened to Baylor several years ago. They weren't allowed to schedule non-conference opponents.

You can't shut the football program down. It would absolutely decimate local businesses that make their profits during the season.
People need to look at the bigger picture
Yes, because profit margins are what is important here.

In the middle of an economic recession where it's already hard enough to make money? Hell yes it's important!

No, how about local businesses struggling. They had nothing to do with this.

Exactly. This is an awful precedent.

Maybe not, but the bigger picture is. What has been done is done. Why are people screaming for more blood? Because many lives of young and innocent children were altered. NOTHING can change that and NOTHING can 'make it better'. So why screw with the lives of tens of thousands of others? Should we bring more people down so a couple of people with ZERO skins in the game will feel good?
Shutting down the football program or the AD will do DICK for 99% of the country other than give them a warm fuzzy feeling for a few hours. It will have zero impact on your life and the lives of many others on here.
For those who are cleaning the stadium after games, selling souvenirs at a local mom & pop store down the street, selling concessions to raise a couple bucks for the local Y...it'll frick them up.
But hey, as long as you get the warm fuzzies it's all for the better right?

A-freaking-men!

Well, I never liked Janitors A and C, but it really shocks me that Janitor B could do such a thing.

And if it did happen again, would the NCAA sanctions really work as a deterent? "you know I was about to break laws, obstruct justice, and risk major jail time and lawsuits to cover this up, but I really don't want to get Arizona St. NCAA sanctions."
this statement is stupid. the only reason laws and rules exist is as a deterrnent? i think crimianal psychologists will tell you people break laws w/o one thought as to the penalties. however, the people in charge have big paychecks and they damn sure want to keep their jobs. it is their responsibility to take appropriate action when the lawbreaker (or rulebreaker) gets caught; NOT COVERING IT UP!

And it's not the NCAA's job to take care of private businesses. Anything that comes about, is on the head of Penn St and those that ran it. They're the bad guys, not the NCAA.
Maybe they should just revoke NCAA membership to Penn St for a couple of yrs. If Penn St wanted to continue to give scholarships, or anything else, it would be their perogative. They'd just have to find some clubs to play ball with and they would be in control of their future.

What some of y'all are saying is there should be investigation to see how many people would suffer by a particular person being punished for breaking rules.
Oh nope...can't arrest this man for murder...his family really needs him.
Nope can't fire this guy...his whole company depends on him.

No we're saying punish the GUILTY. Not the innocent.

I was being generous with the 'couple of people' because within 24 hours of the program coming down I doubt more than a few would actually give a shite.
