I remember the Kerry Collins/Kijana Carter years. Great teams. Problem is, Penn St has been either mediocre ...or preseason-contenders-turned-pretenders for the next 30 years.

Yeah something tells me that a couple of money guys weren’t really happy with him. I could be wrong but he seems unlikable. So you can put up with him when he wins but a couple of bad losses and the checkbooks fly open.

It’s crazy to me after making a playoff semi and going 10-2 most years. There must be cultural issues or the donors hate him. I noticed the other day the hockey team plays in Pegula Ice Arena. The Pegulas own the Sabres and Bills (and their daughter is 6 in the world in tennis) and they paid $80 million for the ice arena and to get men's and women's hockey up and running. Maybe they are paying the buyout.

I don’t disagree with that. I think the reason they get the preseason contender status is based on recruiting. They get great classes and don’t do enough with them. This year was an example. Ton of returning seniors, a quarterback that was a top recruit out of high school in the Heisman conversation, Franklin was telling everyone this was the year.
