Elite coordinators lying in wait are considered to be on the market.
My question stands.
Kirby was a known commodity waiting for an elite job. There is no Kirby equivalent right now.

Guess you missed the 1994 team that went undefeated. The only reason they weren’t awarded the MNC that year was so the voters could give Tom Osborne his lifetime achievement award. If they were allowed to play Nebraska that year they would have easily beat them.

To be a Kirby you need to be more than that, IMHO. You have to be the clear-cut #2 for a long period of time of an elite program. There are none that I can think of right now.

I don't understand firing him now. No coach worth a damn is leaving his team this week and any coach they want now has a long arse window to negotiate with their current team.
