If USC is soooo damn good why are they not in the National Championship game?

Because they really are not all that. They play in a weak conference and still cannot beat everyone in it, and then match up with weak opponenets in bowl games. FUSC.

This is the ignorant crap that makes me laugh at my fellow LSU fans. Truly laughable.

USC has always had a hard time preparing for their "lowly" opponents because their teams are composed of STUDS from all around the country that feel they can show up and beat the weaker opponents without trying.

It is the one drawback to USC constantly getting the VERY BEST in the country every single year.

When they all show up to play and are motivated on the national scene like they are in ANY big games, there may be only one or two teams in the entire country that can stay on the field with them.

Basically, USC = Physically gifted, athletic freak, Primadonna's.

If they show up to play, they are near unbeatable

Flutie will be killed after the game BTW.

I'd like to see USC play Georgia and Florida back to back, then have Ole Miss for an off week then play Bama.

every year.

True for a couple of teams. BUT you have to show up.

Beat the teams you should (oregen st) and then also have to play a conference champonship game and they would get in, but when the other power conferences play championship games it gives them one more quality win to make their case for the title game.

Are we supposed to pretend every F'n year to be suprised when USC beats a Big 10 team in the Rose Bowl?

I can't fake my amazement anymore.

UF has better SKILL position players THIS YEAR. Guys like Demps, Harvin, Rainey > USC skill players.

You can't even really say this.

True to a degree. McKnight, Gable, and Johnson are just as good as any three RBs in the country. That does not even include 5 star RS FR Marc Tyler or Broderick Greene (who is transferring).

Both USC and UF have weaker WR corps. They are fairly comparable.

big10 teams have been getting blown out like this for the last 3 years.

Why is everyone here in such amazement about this?

We saw the same thing out of Florida in 06, and LSU in 07.

I know this is a crazy idea, but maybe the big10 just isn't that good!!

so we should excuse them for having superior athletes, and feel sorry for them that they have to play down to inferior talent? That causes them to lose (every year basically), and we should just look the other way, because you know, they look real good sometimes??

with no playoff, every game counts.

Plus they didn't 'slip up' against Oregon St.

Anyone who watched that game knows that OSU took it to them for most of the game, and was clearly the better team that day.

If USC played in the SEC they would have at least 2 losses a year. And don't give me the "they won at Arkansas and Auburn in the last five years" BS. Let them play the SEC gauntlet every single year, recruiting against them, playing against them, etc.....it would be fun to watch. If they blow a Stanford or Oregon State game every year, imagine what they'd do when they play Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and LSU every year (or something like that).

Conversely, I'd love to see Florida or Bama or us (2008 notwithstanding) play in the Pac 10 every year. It'd be nice to have a virtual bye to a BCS bowl and AP national title every year.

SFP, of course they can show up to play against average team, but their one slip up every year is against the weaker teams. It doesn't mean they can't beat 3 out of 4 of the average teams on their schedule well, and then get upset by the 4th.

Also, Oregon State is not nearly as bad as every on here makes them sound. They did just win their bowl game (in a weird 3-0 game)

i don't think so, I think they'd be just like us or FLA.

Very good teams, subject to up and down years.

They'd still dominate a ton of games and win some SEC championships.

this isn't an argument for anything btw.

You know what lets me know that they were good? The fact that they beat USC and did it in a semi convincing fashion

Seriously?

Laughable because all BCS conferences agree to a standard and when USC, loose and dancing, looses to a inferior opponent, we are supposed to say awwwww, they have too much talent. Give them a break. How can we expect them to get up for every game when they play sucha shitty schedule? Lets give them an unagreed upon National Title because they refuse to play anyone and accept Rose Bowl bid and again beat up on an undermatched Penn State team?

Laughable? You are laughable...

Based on the current system, does any one here claim that USC belongs in either the #1 or #2 BCS positions this year compared to the teams that are there now?

What is the basis for your claim based on the current system?

b/c of lack of focus

but that 1 loss wasn't the only reason why they were held back this year

they were not impressive in big (relatively, the pac10 sucked) games this year, like zona

quote:

Also, Oregon State is not nearly as bad as every on here makes them sound

they beat USC then a bunch of teams from the pac10 (which sucked). couldn't win their rivalry game, and they were blown out by penn state
