Penix’s performance was one of the best I’ve ever witnessed in person

Just left the dome and sat 200s mid level behind end zone. I had a great view from QB perspective - some of Penix’s throws were absolutely incredible. Only QB I can compare to is Burrow. It was absolute treat to watch as a neutral fan. UW’s offense was masterful in general. Man that was fun.

Dude made every throw. That game really wasn’t close and it’s amazing it ever got to the point it did at the end

That first one to Polk was amazing.

Agreed. Saw burrow vs Lawrence in the dome and just watched Penix (also from the 200 level).
Was truly blown away. Take away balls he clearly threw away and you have 4-5 true incompletions.
Was incredibly accurate, put the ball away from defenders where necessary and right where his guys could run after the catch on their “run” plays.
There aren’t 20 QBs currently in the nfl better at throwing the ball than Penix.

So he should've won the Heisman?

Daniels got the edge because his dual threat abilities were substantial and too much to overcome. Penix might be the best pure passer this season. He throws the ball as well as anyone I've seen.

But you can't disappear for about a month against average competition and win it when there's a more consistent guy out there putting up better numbers against better defenses

Yeah his stats from that 3-4 game stretch at the end of the season really hurt his heisman campaign.

He was dripping Dimes like a Pro QB. Not sure how he will do in the NFL, especially with a bad team, but he looked great last night.
Should be a interesting to see how he does against Michigan's #1 defense in the country

He had the one TD dart into the middle of the endzone and dropped one the sideline that was just impressive. He’s gonna be great in the NFL.

Has the fastest release I've seen since Tua. He will be great in the NFL. Currently projected to be a late first rounder, he's going to skyrocket up and be taken in the first 20 picks.

he has amazing arm talent when it doesn't look like he puts that much into his throws and then these laser darts come out of his hand. He was impressive last night for sure.

I wouldn't say that.
I thought Penix was great. But I thought Washington did a really bad job of "feeling the game". Watching the game it really felt like UW's offense was dominant. Yet, it was tied at HT and they seemed content to keep settling for FGs rather than ride a red hot QB to what should have been a blowout. You could tell mid-way through the 3rd the game was going to go down to the wire because Washington refused to put Texas away.
Tied 14-14 in 2nd quarter. Penix completes a 52 yard bomb to the Texas 23. Then, 4 straight runs to gain 9 yards. The last one, on 4th down, was just an awful call. The strength of Texas's defense was their interior DL. They just stoned you on 3rd and short. So not only does Washington take the ball out of the hands of their great QB and WRs, they literally take the ball out of their QB's hands and telegraph a wildcat dive right into the teeth of Texas's DTs...for a predictable no gain and turnover on downs.
In the 3rd quarter Penix opens the half slicing up Texas's defense for a 70 yard TD drive. The TD pass being an absolute bullet between two Texas DBs to make it 28-21. Texas then fumbles on their very next offensive play at their own 33. After a 19 yard completion, Washington then decides to run the ball 3 straight times...for 5 yards, inside the 15, and settle for a FG. Did they not watch Penix on the previous drive? Or all season? That was a chance to take big time control of the game and go up 35-21. Instead, they only lead by 10.
Mid-way through the 4th Washington is up 34-28 after a 10 play TD drive for Texas. Washington responds with 5 straight completions by Penix down to the Texas 10. They then run on 1st and 2nd down for a net gain of 0 yards and, again, settle for a FG to make it a 9 point game which leaves a FG in play for Texas. Get a TD there and it's 41-28 with less than 3:00 to go and Texas having to score two TDs.
Then they continue to run the ball late with a 6 point lead, which turns into bad luck with Johnson getting hurt and giving Texas the ball with 45 seconds.
Penix was great. The OC wasn't. He overthought things all game long and is VERY lucky it didn't cost Washington a loss in what should have been a blowout with how Penix was playing. That final drive by Texas was the result of complete coaching malpractice.

Deboer should not have thrown a pass on 3rd down of his 2nd to last possession. He ran on 1st and 2nd down basically conceding to settling for a fg in exchange to burn clock/make UT burn timeouts. By throwing on 3rd down and stopping the clock he handed UT a full possession of 40 seconds.
The injury to Johnson was bad luck but if you just take a knee there you punt with 15 secs left and UT has 2 plays to go 80 yards. Badly mismanaged final 3 mins

Eta I saw Jason Garrett lose a game to the Detroit lions like that by running the ball one last time when Detroit was out of timeouts. He gets a holding penalty which stops the clock and saves Matt Stafford 40 seconds of time and proceeds to go down the field and win the game. If he took a knee and punted the lions would have had 20 seconds or so. Impossible.

He is the best QB in this draft class.

UW played that right IMO.
You can’t help an injury. The rule there is the problem. The 25 second clock should start there. There’s no reason to keep the clock stopped following an injury. The clock should run or not based on whatever the result of the previous play was.

Friendly reminder that in Joe Burrows semifinal he had 7 touchdowns in the first half, blowing out a team with Jalen Hurts and Ceedee Lamb.
Penix played a great game, Joe Burrow played possibly the greatest game of football ever played.
