wouldn't be about an athlete getting paid $1k to be a in a commercial. It would be about boosters paying kids millions of dollars to buy a championship.

They’re all doing this now anyway

Imagine how bad transferring is right now thanks to playing time.

Imagine how much worse it gets if boosters can start throwing money at players on other teams’ rosters to fill a need on their own.

I’m just not sure how I feel about the govt telling a private organization like the NCAA how it can run its business in this detail

The state of Florida can’t exactly throw stones in this regard considering the histories of Miami, Florida, and Florida State.

All this does is legalize the kind of shite those three schools have all been busted for in the past.

The federal government theoretically could.

A state government? They can get the frick out of here with that. A member school can either follow NCAA guidelines or withdraw.

So all the recruits will commit to California schools now?

If I am a recruit I would de-commit until I see how this works. 5* player getting a scholarship to school plus an open source of income just for being really good in a sport in high school? Hell yes where do I sign

seems that's what will happen

if your University pays players, then you will be ineligible to compete under the NCAA

so we will now have two college leagues: a pay cfb lg and an amateur one

The governor of California signed the Fair Pay to Play Act on LeBron's HBO show. Florida is crafting its own NIL bill. This stuff is happening fast, folks.

Two other states, Washington and Colorado, are already exploring similar laws, while New York and South Carolina have also entered the introductory stages of similar legislation.

Do you really think the playing field is level now?

Am I any different than a regular academic scholarship kid?

No

Ya damn well right I am. I have to bust my arse for those two a days, game prep, studying all while maintaining a full load like that academic kid(shite we might be the same major).

There are students that practically live in the library. Many students work hard at their craft. Law school, med school, etc. Hell, music majors spend hours practicing. You could go on and on here.

university is making millions off my likeness

bullshite. Take Joe Burrow off of LSU, Tiger Stadium will still fill up. Yes, the university profits. But millions? Off of one person? No.

This is going to be a disaster but the cucks for college athletes don’t care about logic and reason.

And it’s going to be hilarious when the PAC-12 replaces the California schools with Colorado State, Boise State, Hawaii, and Utah State.

They're telling colleges what they can and cannot do.

I'll be watching the amateur one, especially if LSU is participating in it. The players playing don't matter.

It would be hilarious if NCAA conferences end up with no replacement options at all.

Current list of states that will consider similar legislation in 2020:

Colorado
Florida
Illinois
New York
Pennsylvania
South Carolina
Tennessee
Washington
West Virginia

That list is growing by the day
