8 innings pitched
3 hits
9 strikeouts
1 walk
1 earned run

Registers another loss as the Pirates can’t score a single run.

Bob Nutting please sell the fricking team

He will walk after his rookie contract is up. Has Yankees written all over it. His old lady will demand a bigger market.

i told ya this last year

guy is like 0-4 vs stlouis, and has had like 1 run or less of support it seems every start vs them. was at the one game and he was dominating, but his inept offense and defense allowed 1 stl run, then another, he's gone with like a 2 hitter and gets the loss

only 3 stl hitters are hitting .300 or better against, rest are hitting.100ish or worse

its why i started the," i feel for paul skenes" thread.

Win and losses for pitchers is a meaningless statistic. It shouldn’t even exist it is that useless.

This isn’t the worst thing for his career. Let him ease into MLB with zero pressure with the Pirates. After his rookie contract is up, he will be the highest paid pitcher in baseball and can decide wherever he wants to work.

Wins and losses don’t mean anything anymore. They finally figured that out.

He needs to start pushing his starts off “due to soreness “ in an effort to preserve his arm

owners of professional sports franchises should be held accountable in cases like the Pirates. they've only made the playoffs three times since George H.W. Bush was in office (all early exits as well). they haven't won their division since 1992. yet their owner has continued to get wealthier and wealthier for doing nothing with the team.

if you owned a McDonald's or a Chick-fil-A franchise that consistently reported absolutely awful numbers year after year after year ... eventually the company is going to step in and either opt for you to sell the franchise or close it down.

the same should go for all of the major sports franchises. these owners can't ONLY be in it just for the money, they have to at least attempt to win and spend money on the roster.

I think the play should be that leagues after a certain number of years of futility combined with under spending should have a clause in which they can present the owner with the option to give over day to day control while being forced to spend up to the top 1/3 of teams capped by revenue so they don’t take a massive loss with a league appointed GM or they are forced to sell.

Some of these owners fully intend your to just milk TV and revenue share in perpetuity while letting the team be a doormat and that isn’t in the best interest of the league or the fans.

Skenes is also pitching to contact this season so he can go longer into the game. That's why his strikeout numbers are down from last year.

He’s under team control through the 2029 season. If the Pirates can’t build a team around him that can contend for the second wild card until then, they might as well fold the franchise.
