With the Pats track record Dannywill likely be a starter one day with a massive contract
That's assuming:
1) Etling makes the active roster
2) Etling is named as Brady's backup
3) Brady gets hurt/suspended
4) Etling does well in Brady's absence
The two guys that have benefited from being Brady's backup had significant playing time when Brady was hurt/suspended and performed well during that playing time.
Teams don't typically carry 3 QBs on the active roster. The Patriots have an experienced vet, Brian Hoyer, as the backup currently. IMO Etling's best (and likely only) shot is to get a spot on the practice squad.

Danny will make bill say “baker who?”

Etling will need to fight for a PS roster spot. They’ve got a logjam at a lot more important areas to keep 3 QBs

he guy has done exactly what you want in a modern qb. He is accurate, and can diagnose a playbook and defenses quickly
+ He is a firey leader, and he wins. This dude got no major D1 college offers, walked on at 2 schools and won the starting job as an undersized kid, carried Oklahoma to a CFP and won the Heisman
It's honestly a fascinating story. Imagine if that kid can actually help revive Cleveland, holy shite

SO fricking what? Like Belichick has never drafted a bust.

Could have been a Patriot, actually drafted by the Browns.
Sounds like a sad country song

Some dude said the Jets had Darnold at the top of their board this morning
When have the Jets nailed a QB in the draft?
Leftwich? Pennington?
Dont say Sanchez

There's definitely one in there. The elements:
--Coulda been a Patriot, wound up a Brown
--Coulda had Belichick, wound up with Hue Jackson
--Coulda been mentored by Brady, wound up being mentored by Tyrod Taylor.
--Coulda been a champion, wound up topping out at 8-8 one time.
--(If history holds, this place is saved for a traumatic inury)

I think this is smoke. Pats had holes to fill couldn’t give everything up to go to 2
Posted on 5/1/18 at 9:28 pm to sms151t
I think that was sarcasm mate

If you've been following the NYG you would no there was never a chance in hell they were trading away #2 unless Cleveland took saquon
