Parkview Baptist Head Football Coach Jay Mayet Resigns

The school reported Tuesday that Mayet had announced his resignation. PBS said Mayet wants to “pursue other interests.” Mayet led the Eagles to a Division II championship in 2015. PBS appeared in the state championship game three years in a row between 2014 and 2016. In five years as head coach, Mayet had a 40-22 overall record. The school said he has been a part of the staff for the past 21 years. It added a new head coach will be named soon.

Probably a good thing. Parkview has really fallen off the last few years. Any chance they go after Drey Trosclair?

David Simoneaux at Catholic High Pointe Coupee would be my first and only call. He would bring back the toughness they’ve slowly been losing since Guillot retired.

He's an excellent coach, but my guess is he and fam may be very happy where he is.

Also, PBS’s old qb walked onto the LSU team so Mayet can’t get a job on staff for a couple of years
