So the Big Ten really should have changed the name to Big 11 when PSU joined since they had the name Big Ten for such a short period of time. But they didn't.
People had been calling it the Big Ten for almost all of the 1900s though.
I didn’t realize that wasn’t its official name until 1987 though. That’s an interesting fact.

The PAC12 had 12 teams for barely a decade, and its results during that period were bad.

The day the PAC 12 died, Bill Walton died soon after.

Large public universities?

They should really add Montana State and North Dakota State as those schools have sizable facilities, students and alumni.

They should add UNLV if they were smart.

The PAC12 had 12 teams for barely a decade, and its results during that period were bad. It also seems like they could easily just brand it as the PAC.
Yeah, under consideration you could say the Big 8 also changed the number to 12; but that was also much more of a merger between the Big 8 and SWC, and they needed to rebrand.

Might as well throw in Alcorn State, Georgia State, Northwestern State, and Jackson State in there too. Got to get to 12 mayne.

Is Gonzaga going to be a basketball member?

UNLV turned them down last year.

They should just drop the number from their name and called themselves the PAC.

Memphis State
We turned them down along with Tulane (USF as well but i dont think USF really even considered it). At the time they couldn't provide legit media deal numbers and were essentially telling us "trust me bro, its going to be great". Made more sense for us to stay put with guaranteed ESPN money for the next few years with a more reasonable travel footprint

It’s not like the new PAC was even guaranteed to be more lucrative than current situations
