Oh no. Historically y’all are as irrelevant as an NBA franchise can be.
Right now? Y'all are super relevant. No denying that.
I guess no publicity is bad publicity for a Clippers fan

I think that’s what the oil barons were doing in soccer, although I am not sure.

Your formally irrelevant team is now embroiled in controversy, making them relevant at this moment.
Make sense?
Ban bet?

No doubt. But unfortunately for you, so does Wachtell, Lipton, Rose and Katz.

Buying the NBA is about the only way he avoids getting punished for this.

Cuban now involved in a back and forth with Pablo on X.
The downfall of Mark Cuban has been a wild sight to see

It is slightly more likely that the NBA concludes that all of the evidence is circumstantial, and sweeps this under the rug, rather than Balmer buying the entire league

Wait, I assumed he was being facetious. Does he literally think Ballmer can buy the NBA?!?

It would kill the entire NBA if his response to being caught cheating red handed was to buy the entire league so he can get out of being punished.

To buy every other NBA team? Knowing what the current situation is, no team would sell to Ballmer for less than $10B. Even Ballmer doesn’t have that much money

his entire argument (which is reasonable) is incredulity that sophisticated investors like ballmer would engage in such an easily uncovered scheme to defraud the NBA. That knowingly doing this and knowingly taking the risk of being caught while not doing everything possible to prevent it is not plausible (in his world, and in ballmer’s). And it does seem unlikely that ballmer would be this stupid and reckless.
but he’s generalizing using sound logic a situation where clearly (if true) emotions were involved…get kawhi at all costs. The only thing that doesn’t add up is that this no show deal happened after his second contract, not his first, and that both contracts he signed were for the max. Kawhi did not give up anything in return for the side deals. No other team could have paid Kawhi more than the clippers did. So a plausible question would be…what did the clippers gain by doing shady shite for his second contract there? They had his bird rights, they had the leverage, there was no need to do this then.
for that to make sense there would have had to have been an agreement way back in 2019 that kawhi would sign a legitimate max contract, play thru it, and then receive unallowable benefits.
in truth that sounds a bit far fetched as well

KL asks Toronto for no show job and piece of an outside company. Toronto says no.
KL is a clipper. Ballmer invests $50M into a tree company. KL gets both requests that Toronto rejected, to the tune of $48M compensation.
Tree company is behind on 1.75M payment to KL. Clippers minority owner invests 1.99M into tree company. KL then receives his payment.
KL nor Uncle Dennis publicly say this didn’t happen. They don’t have to say anything, but how easy is a one sentence social media post.

Heard this theory…
Uncle Dennis did the $48 million dollar deal without KL knowledge with the caveat that he would steer KL to the Clippers. That’s why the no show job part of it was so important.
From a Yahoo article: Robertson's name was listed on a contract between Aspiration and KL2 Aspire LLC. The specific sentence pertaining to Robertson specified that all "communication required or permitted under this Agreement" be sent to Robertson. In addition to that, Robertson was listed in the contract as Leonard's "designated representative."

another point made by cuban...again, reasonable and logical
quote:he's not melting down or flailing to defend ballmer, he's making good points that there were multiple better ways to do this and not get caught
And a final note. While Pablo is focusing on the $2m and $50m from Wong/Ballmer, he didn’t really get into the millions of dollars in carbon credits that were purchased by the clips and the arena. I bring this up because it would have been a lot easier and a lot safer, if he was trying to circumvent the CBA to just buy more carbon credits. They were almost all margin, as Pablo correctly pointed out, so they would have created the cash immediately to pay KL2. Which is what it appears he did with other companies to create the appearance of real revenue.
