You gotta hand it to OSU for placing UM on paid admin leave so they investigate everything and get the facts straight before making any massive moves, with so much money and possible litigation at stake this is really the best thing they could’ve done At this point

You do realize a young Hitler fought in WWI, so that likely is not true. We get your point, but in reality he most certainly did actually kill someone along the way

Not my words, but read this on yahoo.

quote:

Now, can anyone plausibly believe that Shelley Meyer never mentioned this to Urban Meyer? The two are famously close, with Urban calling Shelley his closest confidant and almost a co-head coach of his program. Yet Shelley wouldn’t bring it up, not once in three years? She’d just let him continue to employ someone she believes beats his wife and has photos to prove it?

didn't read whole thread, but here is where the rubber hits the road...last week, during Big10 media days, reporter asked if he knew about the abuse, and he said NO....that's gonna get him fired, the lying. He is required, by policy, to report ANY abuse claims. His wife, an OSU employee herself, is also required to report and she didn't as well.

Correct. You need all sides of this story.

And on another note, if I’m that lady’s father, I’ would have grabbed me a stick on the way to Zs house and beat his arse
I wonder why more wasn’t done on the family’s behalf. They cutting him slack cause he’s a potential hot shite coach in the making.?

after reading this thread I am really concerned about the well being of your wife. You sound like someone who really doesn't think hitting a woman every now and then Is that bad. But hey! I guess sometimes you gotta make sure they remember their place right?

Joe Paterno did nothing wrong too, huh

From what ive read so far, this is not even in the same ballpark.

We havent even heard the other side of the story and yet the knives for everyone in the near vicinity are out.

Since when is the head coach the law. When a crime is commited call the police not a football coach.

Based on what I've read.... he's the law when his employer requires things, in this case abuse, to be reported. Who does he report it to.... tOSU, his employer.

But hey, if Smith was an assistant in the NFL I guess he'd have a better chance at a job. I mean, didn't Ray Rice make it back on the field?

And to covingtintiger... because no charges were filed, you saying Smith didn't do anything wrong? Ray Rice was on video, as well as Mixon from OU.... and I think charges on one or both were dropped. So you saying those guys aren't guilty?

He kept him as a grad asst at Fla - a grad asst.
Meyer should have fired him then and never associated with him ever again.
It's a move that cost him $30 million.

This thread would be gold if it also was so sad. On page 1 alone we have comparisons to Paterno, Larry Nasser and of course Hitler cause of course hearing an employee abused his wife and not reporting it is the exact same as unleashing a global war and genocide

I don't know why this is so hard to understand.

Urban will only be fired if he lied to his boss.

Urban didn't even fire the wife-beater until the 2015 incident was made public. I have to believe if it was not made public, the guy would still be on the staff.

He can't control what his assistants do... but he certainly can control his response to it.

All of these coaches have moral clauses in their contracts.

Looks like the tide is turning and the overreacting crowd is not getting another sacrficial lamb

Urbs threw his AD under the bus saying he reported Smith. Now OSU Says investigation will be done on 2 weeks. This means a decision to keep Urbs is already in the mix.
