ta: they recruit well in non-revenue sports because they offer a lot more scholarship $ than most schools can or do.

How do they do that? Is there not a limit?

"But the Midwest seems to hold it's own against the PAC-12, whIle the South can't for whatever reason."

Not sure what you're referencing but this isn't backed up by reality. If you're referencing things like the Director's Cup, the reason the Big 10 and Pac-12 does so well is they (especially the Ohio State's and Michigan's of the world) compete in many more sports than most SEC schools do. There are many SEC schools where it's mathematically impossible to win the Director's cup because they lack several sports that Pac-12 and Big Ten schools have. For example, Alabama won 4 national titles one school year (2011/2012) and still didn't finish in the Top 10 of the ranking.

In fact, the SEC is a step above the Big Ten in just about every sport the two conferences compete in. Football, baseball, women's gymnastics, softball, men's and women's golf, men's and women's tennis, track and field, etc. Men's and women's basketball and volleyball are about the only sports all the teams in both conferences that the Big Ten is better than the SEC in.

The athletic ineptitude of Texas A&M, Baylor and other colleges in Texas helps a lot. Those schools have been so bad for so long that OU is or at least was pretty much the defacto #2 college sports team in Texas.

Oilfield money is spent like you can't imagine.

Also, they land a ton of academic dollars when an athlete has any native american blood in them. They've become masters at the practice.

It's cyclical, in the 90s OU sucked at nearly everything.

OU in the 90's
Basketball NCAAT 7 of 10 years
Baseball NCAAT 6 of 10 years and a NC
Golf NCAAT 8 of 10 years NC (89)
Wrestling NC individual 9 of 10 years with 4 in one year

Yeah football was the only sport they sucked at

Yep. Auburn not done yet. Oklahoma will have to earn this one. Those ladies will not give it to them
