I am not speaking with contract issues or title ix or university policy
I am speaking to people who think Urban should have fired smith because “he knew he did it”
If you beleive that, you should hold true to the logic every employee accused of a crime should be fired because “you know they did it”
It’s simple logic

You keep talking about firing Smith like that was the only option. He didn't have to hire him at OSU knowing what he knew about his time at Florida. He didn't have to renew his contract earlier in the year knowing even more about the situation. Urban had other options.
Suddenly Smith is fireable the day it goes public.

Meyer said he knew of the allegations and reported smith
That is not remotely the same as saying Meyer knew he was a wife beater/did what he was accused of

I am not one of those people, Urban as HC has discretionary hiring and firing authority with his staff, maybe he wanted to give Smith one more chance, who knows? I don’t think it was the wisest choice Bc the risk remained he could bring the university in disrepute by retaining him but he didn’t break any laws by doing so to my knowledge, Urban’s a guy who throws caution to the wind with people whether it be players and apparently now coaches so I’m not surprised, that’s his character he admitted as such IIRC at media days

Urban frames it as a young couple that needed some help and counseling. I tend to think that's a favorable account of things at best.

Lol, sure. Cause Urban is joe blow employer. Because Urban doesn't make $5 mil a year, urban isn't the supervisor of what probably a $10 mil or more a year staff, urban isn't one of the most well known people in the state of Ohio, Urban doesn't have the cell phone number of the Police Chief, Urban doesn't have a private investigator on speed dial....
If you guys want to act like a guy like Urban in Urban's position just reports random BS from his wife, enjoy being ignorant.
I'm of the belief that Urban is smart enough to get to the bottom of any sort of BS that may cause him issues.
I'm of the belief Urban either is completely ignorant of an issue, or he makes it a point to know everything about it or someone that does. Urban wasn't completely ignorant here, so there's only one option left.
